Busy Saturday

Well my energy seems to have returned a little bit and today we have sunshine  - yay and it always warms the cockles of your heart.  I have been out and about today rising early for me and initially making a foray to the charity shop where I have bought a lovely decorated tea pot stand £1 (It has a picture of the Ironbridge Shropshire on it)  and 4 green cut glass trifle bowls which will go with a set of four I already have for £2.00.  Just little bits, which will go very nicely with what I already have.  I love Pale green cut glass it looks so pretty on the table and I have been collecting pieces here and there for a little while, as the dinner service I have is also green and I have been buying to add to it as I like the table to look nice when I am entertaining.

From there I went to the veggie shop and topped up on fruit and vegetables we have cabbage, parsnip, swede leeks cauliflower, broccoli, beetroot, carrots, spring onions, new potatoes, melon, lychees figs blueberries bananas apples plums,  tomatoes, peppers, red onions, So quite a bit to be going on with. I did not get change out of £20 so I am going to attempt to grow some veggies in the garden as well to try and cut the cost of things generally.

About a fortnight ago I fell in love with a little long haired tabby cat who I bumped into with my friend and neighbour Libby she was just gorgeous  - we hadn't seen this little one before and she was very fussy.  Not long after we realised that two Polish families who were house sharing had left and the house vacated.  That was a fortnight ago.  Since then she has been on the street coming up to me if she saw me and wanting a fuss.  I only found out today for sure that she was abandoned, but during the week I have been feeding her at night as she seemed so desperate and was sleeping in the porches of houses further up the street but each time she saw me she came to me and let me cuddle her and fuss her.  Each time I fed her she was ravenous and cleared the lot She wouldn't move very far from the house where she had lived showing a loyalty to her owners and her home that just does not seem to have been reciprocated.  I had already made my  mind up to make further enquiries as she had a collar on and  today and I ascertained from my friends at the veg shop that they had been feeding her in the morning and that no one was claiming her or had come forward to her and she had been desperately seeking food warmth and attention all week.  That decided me there and I decided to take her in, knowing that my OH may not be very happy but she needed a home and I knew that despite some initial reluctance he would not see an animal without a home, so she has come home with me.  Molly has since then spent the best part of the day with me in the warm - she has met Missy and Squeak and there has been a bit of hissing and growling at Missy from her (we do not think she is used to dogs let alone cats) and Squeak and her have touched noses, but its still early days.  Demetri is segregated off at the moment as we suspect that she will have to see the vet so he will get introduced later on when it is safer but that is going to have to wait until pay day next month.  Paul the son of my friend at the veg shop has been calling her Molly all week and I think that name suits her so that is what I will call her.  After hiding behind the settee for most of the afternoon she has now come out and is fast asleep on the fireside rug near my feet.  She has found the tray and knows how to use it and has been fed three or four smallish meals during the day including chicken.  She will not be going out until she has acclimatised herself to her new home and got used to the other residents.  Introductions will be done gradually and slowly and I use talcum powder so that they all smell the same as with cats its more a territorial situation than anything else and it will be managed sensibly and kindly they all have a place in my heart and my home wherever that may be.  What I cannot get my head around though is that people can just abandon animals and leave them to fend for themselves  in this bitter weather we have been having this week. No time is a good time but they stand more chance in the summer months.   If they could not take her with them they should have arranged either to put her in a shelter or find a new home for her. My friends at the veg shop leave food out for the cats and there is a shelter and blanket for them to creep into at least three probably four cats use the shelter regularly, but Molly was frightened of the road and would not go over, food that was so close and yet so far.  I think she is gorgeous,  very nice loving nature; there is not much weight on her and we think she is probably about 8 months old. There are a couple of photographs below.

Will see if I can get some better ones in the next few days

I hope you have all had a good day

Catch up soon

    1. Hi Trudie

Her initial shyness has kind of worn off - she is being cautious and finding her way around. At the moment she is flat out on the fireside rug near my feet snuggled into the rug. I think pleased to be in the warm; the rest of the gang Squeak and Demetri are curled up on the bed with Missy. She has also been grooming herself and giving herself a wash and brush up she seems content and really is no trouble so far. They will settle eventually I am firm and kind and they usually come round to my way of thinking. Take care and I hope you are feeling a lot more comfy

  2. Awww, Molly is SO beautiful! She's very lucky to have found you :o) I'm sure you are making the introductions wonderfully well - talcum is a fabulous idea :o)
I could cheerfully strangle those folk who think that animals are consumables that you can pick up and drop at whim :o(
Our cat was 'rescued' from a woman who 'rescued' her and two other litter mates from a farmer that was about to drown them. The other two were let out far too soon and became traffic fatalities too soon in their young lives. Sid (yes, I know, but we didn't name HER) was the remainder. She was looked after well until the boyfriend moved in - and who HATED cats. Then, when a child soon followed poor old Sid was kept strictly outside in all weathers. She was never sociable with any other cats and so I couldn't encourage her here as we already had a sweet puss ( who could have been sweet Tyson's brother!) Sadly, even though neutered Sam ranged (too) far and wide and also became a fatality. With broken hearts and a cat sized space I was then able to encourage Sid to shelter here. I didn't feed her though. Then the 'for sale' sign went up, and I got into conversation with the woman and asked if she was taking Sid when they moved? She said not as she was going to ask another neighbour if they wanted her - I 'volunteered' (and was already in love with her) and the rest is history...around thirteen years now. Hope your family have Molly for many happy years too :o) (Give her a cuddle for me)
    (Sorry to have waffled on...)
    Love

    1. Thank you Rose, she is a sweetheart cuddle has been delivered. She is currently sprawled fast asleep on the fireside rug by my feet It is warm in here so she should be comfortable overnight bless her heart its been a bit of a busy day for her.

It remains to be seen if she has a voice. She has a distinctive guttaral growl. The rest of the cats are all very vocal as is Missy so we will see if she finds her voice within the next few days or so.

Hope you are okay and that you have regained some sense of normality.

      Take care
