Hoping for a quiet evening

Last night like Monday night I ended up in bed early - 9:00pm last night and I slept through until 5:00am this morning when I woke up an hour earlier than usual.

Being as my mojo is a bit erratic at the moment I ended up at lunch time going into W H Smiths and buying some books and magazines for a kind of lazy evening doing nothing (it has been really busy at work) and I am getting myself back into the swing of things gently.  A while back there was dramatized on television the Ken Follett  The Pillars of  the Earth and subsequent books.  I was quite taken with the storyline on this but I actually prefer to read the book for myself to get a feel of how the author is/was portraying the characters he has created.  So today I treated myself to The Pillars of the Earth.  What attracted me  - they had an advertising display for the latest of the "Kingsbridge" Series.  The latest tome is entitled "A Column of Fire".

More information on Ken Follett and his books here http://ken-follett.com/

I intend to work my way through all of them "World without End", and "A Column of Fire".  Trouble is if I get lost in a book I become very anti-social and cannot put the book down until I have read it and the way the miniseries was portrayed was very good, but I need to read the book.

I also have some magazines a couple of gardening ones and also a patchwork and Landlove magazine.  So I should have enough to keep me occupied this evening.

Right off for a curl up and a read.

Catch you soon.

  1. I must re-read this and subsequent novels of Ken Follett's. It's certainly the time of year for snuggling up with a book (mine is currently Conn Iggulden's "Dunstan" which I feel you would also enjoy.

I love the Landlove and Landscape magazines too - beautiful photography and some recipes and crafts which are always interesting. Which patchwork mag did you get? I have just taken out a subscription to Today's Quilter which is the patchwork magazine I buy regularly. At 72% off for 6 issues, delivered to my door, it was a no-brainer. I paid just £9.99 and after that it is 18% off.

    1. Hi BB, I am picking it up every chance I can. "Dunstan" sounds good I will have to look that one out. I love the Landlove and Landscape magazines. They are what I call proper coffee table magazines and to boot has so many interesting articles and recipes. The quilting magazine I got yesterday was snap "Today's Quilter". Great minds think alike. It is one of the better ones. Thank you for letting me know about the subscription that is a very good price. I am going to go and get my nose back in my book. OH not too well at the moment so I am going to leave him be for a little while and read. He might get some sleep then. Take care sweetie. Tricia xx
