Sunday round up

We have had roasted duck for Sunday lunch today.  It was not too bad at all.  Served with broccoli and cauliflower cheese (with garlic was really yummy), petit pois peas, roast potato, parsnip, mashed potato, kale and carrot and swede mash with lots of gravy.  Went down very nicely.  At least we have been blessed to have eaten well tonight.

Dinner was earlier than last week which was the aim and hopefully we will get back to a more usual time for lunch over the next few weeks.  Tweaking the routine as we go and getting back into the routine of baking to boot.  Easing things in gradually.

I had made two loaves of bread from two different packet mixes that were not out of date and both failed miserably. (Previously I have had this brand come up really high). I thought that there might be something wrong with the panny.  As a tester  I have popped another one in from scratch and we have a loaf for tomorrow.  It seems to have come up quite well although could be a bit higher.  I have since popped another one on the go.  At least it is not the panny. (fingers crossed).

It transpires that OH did not get enough out of the freezer yesterday so I will have to go and have a look in any event.  Do not think that there are many more weeks meals left in there.  In any event it has served a purpose and then I can start on the cleaning and the re-stocking.

OH mentioned today that apparently we have a very large Iceland in Peterborough over towards Orton so it may well be that we will check them out once the freezers are stripped.  In the past when we have bought stuff from Iceland we have been pretty pleased.  If I get some mince out of the freezer tomorrow it will either be Lasagna (which I think is a strong possibility) and/or a Chilli.  Both are favourite meals here.

I am very interested in history. Particularly surrounding the Cathars, Knights Templar, anything like that.  Tonight we watched the start of a new series tracing the history back and linking different  artefacts and groups up.  They went inside the Temple mount as they believe that there are levels below the mount where the Templars found a fantastic treasure.  They also believe that the Templars are connected to pirates.  Apparently in ancient Jerusalem bodies were left to rot for a couple of years and then were buried in a stone box known as an Ossuary.  The bones were not put in straight though and the two femurs were angled in the box and the skull placed in the middle.  The sign of the Jolly Roger.  So they believe that there are links through the centuries to the Templars and to pirates.

Most people do not know that the Knights Templar were responsible for what we know as our banking system.

A very interesting programme all round.  Back on again next week at 9pm.

I was quite pleased it was on later as the new series of Call the Midwife was on BBC1 at 8pm.  I just love this programme.

OH is not at work this week so I have company.  A lot to do though.

Catch up shortly.

Take care until then.
