Work in Progress

I have another project in hand at the moment; I have started off a new crotchet bedspread for a single bed. Yes I am a bit of a butterfly tend to have a couple of projects on the go at once fluctuating one to the other, but I have this pretty yellow rose bedding set with matching curtains already and I just chanced upon the coloured wool at the right price (for the centre part of the squares in yellow and green). I plan to finish it off with cream edging so have really been taking advantage of and making use of what has come my way, it will also help nearly complete the soft furnishing side for the single bedroom. I just have to sort out furniture pieces now. Although I am mulling over the idea of collecting pretty yellow lemon, cream and green prints to have a go at making a crazy patchwork bedspread too. Have never done one but quite like the idea of doing this. To think this colour scheme all stemmed from the first needlepoint kit I managed to complete.

Beadwork

I love beads and beadwork of any sort. I have been fascinated since I was a small child. My mother was left a handmade keepsake by her maternal great aunt, aunt Sue who eventually retired to extended family at a farm at Bicker near Spalding, just up the road from where my mum now lives. Great Aunt Sue was a Tailoress according to the Census and she was forever making things and made my mother a dolly bag covered in thousands of seed beads that had all been handsewn in an intricate pattern. I used to get very frustrated as a child not being allowed to play with it, but this is a true heirloom something that is passed from one generation to the other and is greatly treasured. My interest in beads stems from there. I have been attending beadworking classes which have been held every so often locally and I have had a go at making several necklaces, although I am slow and I am still a novice each piece seems to get that bit easier. I intend to really have a session and really play onc...

Home Made Things

My first and only attempt at glass painting thus far A home made wreath. This wreath is made by prodding tiny squares of fabric with serrated edges (little tiny squares of fabric) into a high density polystyrene base. The squares are packed in tightly together. This particular one is white, green and pale pink and the fabric used is acetate lining.

Crafts and Handicrafts

I am very lucky as I was taught to cook and sew from a very early age which many people don't know how to do and I am so grateful for that. Both sides of my family have always cooked and sewn; it was a necessity years ago and at least if needs be I have the ability to have a go at something. I love making things and don't get as much time as I would like to "play" and really "create". I have some ideas I would like to act on in time. However, I like to produce something no matter how small or insignificant. Because I work full time it leaves me very little time to do things during the week so I tend to have a couple of no brainer jobs on the go where I can just sit and run - my hands automatically finding their way around what I have in progress. It also helps me relax. I have a very large super-king sized blanket on the go at the moment. It was primarily started to use up a large box of wool that I had accumulated over the years and not really don...
