Saturday Morning Bright and Early

Image
Today has been a cracking day it really has.  Today I also remembered my Dad who has been missing from this mortal coil for about 16 going on 17 years.  We never got to say goodbye, just a phone call at work to tell me.  He went unexpectedly.  It would have been his birthday today.  Not only that it would have been my Uncle D's birthday.  He was the Joker of the family and his mirth, love and laughter is also much missed.  My Dad and Uncle D were terrible ribbing each other continuously. Never a dull moment from either of them.  Very much missed. I was up just before 6:00am this morning courtesy of a Jack Russell who just would not settle.  I got up and she went out like a light.  It has been a beautiful and dare I say it warm start to the day.  I am in tee shirt with no jumper on at all and have been very comfortable. By 6:30am we had had bacon butties for breakfast together with a mug of tea each.  Still she slept. I needed t...

Friday Catchup

Last Night   As well as a busy day on Thursday I also managed to quickly hit the Charity shop.  It was a straight in straight out visit as I really did not think I would find anything.  I found two china Cake Stands one square, and the other two tiered and frilled on the edges with a wooden centre handle.  More for cupcakes, slices that sort of thing.  Both very different to the items I already have in my collection and the prices silly.  I am therefore going to start off a box in the back bedroom with some of these items in to keep them safe and protected.    I want them out of the dining room into storage. I therefore set too and started to re-arrange some boxes better on sizing and I am labelling up the boxes in order that I can find things easily. Today I am expecting some deliveries.  I have three lots of wallpaper due to arrive (the Plum Hathersage House Wallpaper totalling 8 rolls in all. I also have a storage tin for my dressing table...

What a Busy Day

Image
Not with what I had intended to do i.e. the garden, but have had to concentrate on the house.  Well it was about time and I was up early.  The Little room has been totally done out.  It gets damp and we end up with black mould but all traces are gone for the time being.  Totally re-arranged it.  Knocked one of the shelves off which in a round about way is very serendipitous!  The top shelf was too near to the ceiling and so I could not stock things like toilet rolls, kitchen roll that sort of thing.  I have tried not to use the tissue but when you have an elderly pet it is much easier to use in her management.  I have therefore asked G if he will re-position the shelf further down so that I can store my iron on there and get it easily without doing myself an injury. It is one of those big pressurised steam irons.  It is very good but boy is it heavy.  G said that he will deal with this in the next few days.  I have therefore a...

Just been simply being as things came along

Saturday The delivery driver was earlier than expected today which in a roundabout way was a good thing.  Now have all 8 bags of 100 litre compost sitting in the garden ready for some action from me.  However it rained most of the night the good soaking rain that does good for over three hours.  Everything was drenched when I went out this morning to clear a space for the compost to sit for the time being.  The delivery drivers were really helpful and carried it all through for me.  I think it may be tomorrow before I get to be able to start the potting up though. I had done some washing last night but it was touch and go whether it would go out or not.  Have just put out and the sun has come out to play at long last.  More is in the washer ready to go out later on. Today I am predominantly working in the bathroom although some things are being dealt with in the kitchen.  I am working my way out of the bathroom, to the kitchen, the Pantry then the...

Peace, Quiet and Rest

Thursday Peace We had a peaceful night last night where Missy actually slept the best part of the night through.  As a result we all got a bit of sleep, although it took me ages to get off not quite trusting that we were going to get a night off, but miraculously we did. G went off this morning, thinking that Missy was out for the count, 10 minutes and G escaped but I have had GBO of the earhole ever since. Fingers crossed she will quieten down soon.  I may have spoken too soon but silence!  Fingers crossed and toes plaited! She was out for the count most of the day.  Appears to be bright and chilled out which for the best part she normally is which is the main thing.  We have had a break in any event. G enjoyed his fishing, but I did not get anything done at all today.  I suppose really I had not planned too and so have taken things easy.  I am not feeling 100% in any event.  Thank goodness it is a Bank holiday weekend. Where has this year got to...

Today has been a bit of a washout

An extremely bad night with Missy last night she would not settle and was continuously crying.  It was difficult establishing just what the problem was.  We had the fan on, window open, plenty of water and tea for her to drink and she had been fed.  Just could not put our finger on what the trouble was.  In the end as she still felt too warm to me I ended up going downstairs and getting a bowl of water to wipe her down with.  She then settled and went to sleep that was about 6;00am!  I had planned on doing quite a bit today but that is now put off to another day as I just crashed and went to sleep.  It was late when I actually got up and I felt wobbly to say the least. Last night I did get the chance to sort out one of my seed boxes and also found some of the missing seeds.  These have been put to one side downstairs so that I can start sowing a few at a time in the next few days.  I have enough compost for sowing seeds just not enough ...

Supposed Deliveries, Phone Calls and Disappointments

Image
Last night I ended up with a Jack Russell cuddled up in bed with me.  She just would not settle at all, but then when I popped her in beside me, gave her a little pillow for her head, she settled and went to sleep. Missy remained with me until 7:00am this morning when I turfed her out back to her own bed as I needed to be up and about and doing things today.  I have far too much to achieve and therefore an early start was required.   I started off by doing a load of washing up.  I have tons more to do as I have cupboards to clear and wash out which includes contents.  So it is going to be a little time consuming.  It is possible I am not going to get to any crafting this week because of the amount of work that I need to do. Well I was due a delivery today - I assume for the compost that I ordered the other day.  Received email notifications confirming situation and then at the last minute received a phone call out of the blue and apologising, but ...
