Evening Everyone

I had a ball at my youngest nephew's wedding yesterday.  It was a lovely simple ceremony held within the Bedford Hall, Thorney near Peterborough.  They both brushed  up really well and the bride looked gorgeous.  I will not be posting any photos as it was their private day and they want the official photos to come out first which you can understand.  They had a roving photographer who kept trying to take photos of me  - I am a bit camera shy due to my Dad taking a lot of photos of us as children - it was his hobby. However it was lovely to see everyone and meet up with my sister-in-law's family, who I already knew, however it had been quite a few years since we had been together, but it was good catching up.  It was quite poignant for me yesterday, and something I had not really thought about until my sister-in-law pointed it out, in that I am the last of my particular birth family (apart from my brother).  I have two smashing nephews. ...

Thursday Evening/Friday

Thursday Evening Carrying on into the evening.  Have managed to find my coin collection.  It stems from a collection of old pennies that my Granddad (Pop) collected over the years in an old St Bruno's Tobacco tin.  Funny what sticks in your mind.  After Pop passed, I was given the coins by my Nan, still in their tin.  However as I have never been interested in smoking or been an advocate of it, I did remove the tin.  All my coins are now in an album.  I do not think that they are worth anything, but are there for interest only. I then carried on and sorted a box that was collapsing out.  It was full of my needlework stuff so have popped it into two cases for the time being but they are going to have to be sorted out.  So today I have found quite a lot of my missing sewing stuff.  I have determined that all my sewing stuff is going to be stacked together so that I can access that easily in order that I can get on and do stuff in the fores...

Heat Stress and a little catch up

Sorry despite plans to the contrary the heat really has got to me the past couple of days and as a result I have ended up being in discomfort and pain and like a limp dish cloth.  The humidity has been high and I never have been good in it.  I absolutely hate it with a vengeance when I cannot get on with anything, but equally I know I have to go with the flow a bit more.  Not easy when I feel as though I am forever doing nothing! Therefore decided just to give in gracefully and rest and sleep where I could; despite the fact it has been fractured sleep it has still been rest. The turn-around came earlier on this morning  (Thursday morning) when it chilled down a bit thank goodness.  We have had fans on as well. Missy was also suffering, and so we bathed her yesterday which seemed to have done her some good.  Bathed her in luke warm water and used her sensitive skin shampoo on her to soothe her skin and that settled her a lot.  Mischief does not like wat...

Tuesday

A day off the bedroom today although I may gravitate and do a bit later tonight and then get stuck in again tomorrow. It is far too hot upstairs even though the windows are open and the fans are on.  The animals are on under one of the fans and they have easy access to lots of water. Therefore I am going to get stuck in, in the kitchen and get another full tea sorted for this evening.  We are having chicken and chips tonight at the moment As I really have not done much in the kitchen for the last week.  This is going to be a sort out day.  Once the kitchen is back under control G can then if necessary do stuff in the kitchen if I am too busy to do so. Hopefully will get it back under control today. Not quite made it today, but do have the bulk of it sorted.  Will go back in for a little while tomorrow to finish off and then can sign off kitchen responsibilities. I found another blanket I had forgotten about yesterday and am going to sit and pull it down.  I...

Another busy day where things have not quite gone to plan.  In terms of actually tidying things it has been a really slow day.  I have some of the boxes stashed more neatly now and more items into some of the other boxes.  It will be constantly like this until I get like things with like, but sometimes when you pack a box and then put it up you haven't got all the items in there.  As I am trying to get things together it is "bitting" backwards and forward all the time. The other day I sorted myself out some button jars on my work desk.  Today the cat knocked them off and demolished one of the jars.  There were buttons of all different sizes and colours and glass everywhere.  When there is glass about I usually end up getting cut somewhere down the line and have to have a plaster on to stall the bleeding.  Not that I can keep a plaster on for long as they irritate me to high heaven.  Managed to get things sorted so that we have no more w...

Another Casualty and Sunday Evening

Image
Sunday Evening Such is life.  During my tidy up I have found a couple of casualties.  I particularly like crafting and doing stuff myself, however, I also appreciate someone else's efforts and when I can I invest in embroidered or needlepoint pieces that please me then I do so.  Whilst in the back bedroom today, I have come across a couple of pictures of embroidered pictures which are vintage and not worked by me.  One of the frames has a broken glass and so I am going to have to see if I can find a cheap picture frame just for the glass and get G to show me how to cut this so that I can do my own repairs in the future.  I think I also need new frames in which to put these lovely little panels into. I am not keen on the ones that they are in at present.  I have a larger panel already framed up which is in a natural pine frame and will probably try and source something similar if I can find the right sized frames. The needlework on these is superb too. ...

Back Bedroom.  What a disappointment! Hopefully all this effort though will make my "future" a lot more hassle free and that I will be able to locate what I am after.  Well that is the hope.  So by taking a step backwards and dealing with things  Yes have been in the bedroom tidying up today the mess that I made yesterday.  I knew I had a lot of embroidery threads and I had thought that most of them were contained in a large Lever Arch Box file - wrong I have found another carrier of threads.  I have also found a big box of felt.   A box full of goodies for making homemade Christmas decorations.  Including a little decoration I made a while back. This box also includes some of my real Mother of Pearl Buttons which I intend to use on some tree decorations in due course. I have already made a little heart tree decoration and have a sister decoration to make at some point.  Funny how you plan things out and then for one reason or another ne...

Saturday

Well I have had the "bit between my teeth" today.  Have been slogging on in the bedroom and am now starting to work towards one side of a wardrobe near the entranceway to the Craft room/Computer room/Study. That is full of stuff and I am also going to have to sort the contents of that out as well. I am getting rid of lots of rubbish as I go and also finding things.  It is going to be slow but it needs doing.  I have a lot to empty still so I need to be able to create some room in here to accommodate some of that.  A lot of stuff will be going.  The plus side is that what I am sorting, which will be a continuous work in progress means that the boxes I have sorted out, will be better sorted than they were and I will also be able to find things a lot more easily.  I am sorting things together as I go and slowly.  Some of the boxes are perched precariously so I am mindful of taking bits a little at a time.  Will soon have to stop and those bits ...

Friday Evening

Image
Friday Evening Boy has it been warm today and I think it is going to be another warmer day tomorrow.  Humidity 60% no wonder I have been struggling with my joints today, plus all the frequent up and down stairs I have been doing today as well.  My knee is complaining a wee bit! Tea went down very nicely.  Not that I eat a lot, but I had more than enough. Two slices of bread and a couple of sausages with fried onion on top and then a splash of ketchup.  Did very nicely. As I had already had the hoover out before tea, cleaning up the carpet etc.  I have now started to re-fill the void with boxes that had come from the front bedroom and which had been moved downstairs the other day to give me a little bit of room to move.  One of the boxes has some of my Easter stuff containing things such as my Easter Geese egg cups and also my M & S Chicken egg cups.  I have a passion for glass, crockery, novelty items, fairy tales, Mystical Figurines such as Enchan...

Talk about going down the proverbial Rabbit Hole! Thursday Evening/Friday

Image
Thursday Evening I managed to get the window all sorted out, and the curtains washed.  I got the nets put up and that has tidied up the back bedroom window very nicely.  I will rehang the curtains once this corner is completely dealt with.  I have bookshelves to clear, dust, wash and then re-stack as well. Basically what happens when I start clearing through things and come across stuff I have not seen for yonks. I wander down a rabbit hole! I have some old magazines namely Anna Burda ones that I have had for a lot of years and I have literally just stumbled upon a pile of them.  I have had a quick flick through but have steeled myself to put them to one side for the time being.  I am going to have to go through these as there are many publications that I wish to keep together with lots of patterns and also other needlework and crafting magazines with lovely patterns in them. There will also inevitably be some that I will let go in the longer term. The thing is ...

Wednesday Evening/Thursday

Wednesday Evening I carried on in the back bedroom after tea last night for a little while and unearthed some more goodies.   Thursday Summer Solstice The dog was restless last night and up and down like nobody's business.  G was out of it did not hear a thing whereas I was left tackling her.  I am pretty sure that she has a form of dementia which is not always there but I have noticed once or twice when we have been out with her that for no reason at all she just ups and goes off in the opposite direction, turns round a few minutes later and comes back the way she has just come.  In the end managed to settle her, but by the time she started her shenanigans in the early hours I had not had any sleep.   I was keen to see in the Summer Solstice and I thought I may well be asleep but thanks to Missy I was awake and saw it in.  Beautiful, pleasant, serene, warm  gradually the light slipped in. I am hoping that this beautiful day that is our Summe...

Tuesday Evening/Wednesday

Image
Tuesday Evening I went back into the back bedroom after tea, as has been my want of late.  I am not losing the plot, but before I can get on any further in the front bedroom I have some serious sorting out to do in the back bedroom.  As I have said it is slow work but I am turning up some lovely pieces as usual.  Including some of my Robert Opie Advertising reproduction collection which has been collected gradually over the years.  Most of it consists of fridge magnets as they are small and look good on a fridge or freezer.  I used to collect magnets from anywhere we went on holiday or paid a visit too.  Not quite sure where they are at the moment but hopefully they will turn up soon. I have quite a lot of reproduction fridge magnets somewhere with lots more advertising bits and bobs and several other pieces here and there around the house.  When I locate them I will pop them up to share with you.  I also have a couple of vintage pieces from the C...
