TARRAGON & THYME

On my Todd whilst G was fishing. I bought a little more than I intended, especially with me shopping solo for lots of things like this. It is a good few years since I have been into our local Lidl shop.  I used to go in pretty regularly at one point as we have nearly always eaten lots of cheese and charcuterie meats as well as utilised a lot of seasonal foods and treats.  I think overall I have always preferred Lidl to Aldi, but Aldi does have its points too. I was pleased to be able to source some proper Lemons for making a batch of homemade Lemoncello.  If I can get back into the store later in the week I also hope to gather some more and make a further batch. The fruit and veg section were very good, especially on the fruits. I came away with a Savoy Cabbage, Spring Greens, 2 Swedes, 2 Red Cabbage and a Cucumber.  I need to buy in some Cucumbers to make some more Bread and Butter Pickles.  See how the pennies span out.  Also winging its way home were a p...

 I do not like being cooped up in  a box, let alone being micro-managed.   Too much of a free spirit runs through my blood. I have been cooped up at home with the Shingles and it is driving me mad.  Yesterday I therefore escaped and did a little shopping.  It was safe for me to do so.  There will be a post shortly as to what I got up to,  However the liberation was very much needed.  I only did about half of what I had intended to do, as I came over a little weary and so came home earlier and then rested for a while. I have had copious amounts of sleep - sleeping for England, but that does help with the healing. I am still hurting - nerve tingling and discomfort, cannot wear a bra and am still itching.  I am also very drained energy wise, which is to be expected in the circumstances. For some unknown reason this well and much loved Pantry staple disappeared from the Nestle products, along with Fussells Cream quite a while ago. Well certainly in this country i.e. the UK. Although it appears to be still available in the States and Canada. The last time I managed to buy any of the Nestle cream was from my local Asian shop and I managed to get it a couple of times and that was it.  Which set me thinking, a proper Asian Food shop selling Nestle cream is absolutely worth its salt! Despite me asking since they have been unable to locate it. I use my local Asian shop a lot and so I decided to do a little further prowling on the Internet. I was up with the Lark this morning. A little chilly still, but the Sun was trying to peep out I had set my alarm for 8:00am but was awake a good hour and a half before then, so I got up and started to potter after I had my first mug of tea and my medication. We needed a few things on the shopping front.  Some milk, and Bacon, so we went to Iceland.  Whilst there I spotted a few things extra that we use and which were a good price.  Not strictly necessary mostly things we use, but I tend to buy a few of them only when they are on offer.  We did not go to the Butcher this time for the Bacon, but will go again shortly.  I have yet to pack the bacon into its box and segregate it with greaseproof.  I bought a box last month to store it in the fridge.  He soon goes through a pack of bacon.  I occasionally use it for other dishes, but predominantly it gets used for his breakfasts.   Talking of Breakfast, the other day when I nipped to Waitrose...

Daffodils make me smile There have been a lot of things going on here recently, mostly to do with the kitchen and the Pantry and my stock up of the Pantry which I deal with twice a year as a rule.  I am still half way through this. I have written posts, but I have chosen not to post them at the present, just in case they are misinterpreted the wrong way.  This is in view of the current problems in the World which is also impacting heavily upon our own economy with price rises, fuel restrictions caused by unnecessary Wars etc  I think a lot of the systems in common usage throughout the World are broken and that a new way needs to be found so that everyone benefits not just the few.  We are at the end of the day all equal and not above one another. With all the tensions surrounding food, prices and fuel, I would hate for what I do to be judged unfairly in the circumstances and taken out of context.  It is just not politically correct at the present.  I have n...

Those things you do not necessarily want to do but need to do to keep the household running.  It has been a week of necessary chores here, in a week where I have not been firing on all cylinders.   I had a bit of a backlog with washing again and have concentrated where I can on this, in the past week.  That is when I remembered to deal with it.  My memory is a bit unreliable just recently and I plan on doing specific things and then by the time I have realised it is a good couple of days further on.  I hardly use my mobile these days either (which I think is perhaps not too bad a thing in the longer term), but it does mean that often if I do get a message or a call I am late to receiving them.  Must try and do better in the longer term. There has also been some ironing although there is more to do on that score! Equally the dishwasher has also been on quite a bit.  I am careful what I put into the dishwasher and overall it does help me a lot, alth...
