Plans for Tackling the Garden

I am sorry I have been missing for a few days I have been taking time out and looking after myself as a result of me being unwell last week.  Although I am feeling a lot better, I have been taking things a lot easier. My new medication routine seems to be fitting in a lot better than I had anticipated it would. The new medication which I was recently prescribed I had been taking in a morning.  It should however be taken at night, i.e. the statin Atorvastatin according to the Pharmacist, should be taken of an evening when the Cholesterol levels are higher and when the medication has a better chance of dealing with any increase.  Taking it in the morning is not apparently harnessing the drugs full potential.  I have therefore adjusted this medication to take in the evening. It is also helping G remember to take his medication  However, just because I am, resting up does not mean that I am not plotting and planning and trying to get projects achieved and resolved....

Trying to keep myself occupied

One of the hardest things for me has been staying still and effectively not do anything but rest whilst I recover from my recent seizure.  For a lot of the time I have sat - certainly had no computer time and very little TV time.  I therefore dug out a UFO recovered when sorting out the back bedroom recently which is a large cotton bedspread worked in pale pink, green and cream.  It is just a simple Granny Square pattern and I had already worked over 30 squares and partly sewn some up when I picked it up again.  I decided that I was not happy with the partial stitching of the squares I had done and so I have pulled these down.  I had also worked about 8 pink centres and I have worked about five of these since picking up.  This throw/bedspread I did not have all the yarn for and have found that the cotton yarn sold by Sostrene Grene is a very good match.  Not perfect, but if I mix the squares up well they should blend in nicely with each other....

Feeling Better and Outline Plans for the week

Unfortunately last weekend I was taken poorly with a seizure which effectively grounded me for the week.  I had an early morning attack and then later the same day had a second seizure. (which is also my system's Modus Operandi)! Fortunately I did not bite my tongue on either occasion which is also a rarity.  Both of them were not as bad as what they usually are but the simple fact that it has happened means I am back to square one again on keeping clear for as long as I possibly can.  It is six years since my last seizure so not too shabby.  Have gone as long as 10 years in the past; and then sustained what are termed by the medics as break-through attacks.  Something that my system seems to do and which will be an ongoing feature of keeping myself as clear as I can.   G has been looking after me and I have slept an awful lot which is quite a normal occurrence as my body aches from top to bottom with my body having gone into spasm mode during th...

Sickness

Sorry to be missing unfortunately I have not been at all well and as a result I am taking things easy this week just until I get back on the straight and narrow.  A new regime is also being undertaken with my medication and meals.  Both of us are trying to have our tablets with breakfast and then again with the evening meal, as I think I have been leaving myself exposed by having them later rather than split into the 24 hour clock. Also thought this would help G with his medication as well.  Leaving myself exposed has been done unintentionally but in the circumstances I felt it best to review this as it has been a while since it was looked at.  Hopefully it should tighten things up a bit more.  There is always room for tweaking.  Will see how it goes and if I have to adjust further then so be it. I will be back for the beginning of next week in any event.  I am okay just need to take things steady.  Be back soon. Pattypan x

Not a productive week so far

This week has been low key in that I have not got much done.  Lots of pottering as per usual but nothing substantial as yet. Some provisions have been gathered for a spot of preserving.  Cucumbers, Strawberries, Raspberries that were on offer.  Bread and Butter Cucumbers are on the cards and Strawberry and Raspberry jam.   Strawberries and Raspberries have gone into the freezer. They were reduced and I am not wasting them. I managed to get from Morrisons (our new store around the corner is a Morrisons Daily).  The Strawberries are on offer 3x 500g punnets for £5.  I also managed to get a reduced 500g punnet for £1.25.  Therefore the Strawberries cost me £6.25 for 2kilos.  I do not think that is a bad price.  I also found Raspberries reduced 150g punnets for £1.25.  I bought 7 punnets for £1.25 each for just over 1 kilo of Raspberries.  Actual cost £8.25 a little more expensive and not as much in weight.  Raspberry ja...

Chaos a Mish-Mash sort of a day

Well it is one of those weeks things are just not running to plan primarily because of the weather as it is leaving me without the inclination to tackle jobs when I know I should be, but there is a lack of energy as well.  Two rough nights on the trot have not helped either.  It is far too hot to be doing some of what we are planning on doing.  That and today I had to go to the hospital again.  I also have to go to the Surgery for bloods again next Tuesday so they are kind of keeping their beady eyes on me at the moment.  Beginning to feel a bit like a proverbial pincushion. Today's testing I should get the results of at home within 3-4 weeks.  A routine set of screening, which will not happen again for another three years as long as everything is okay. Because of today's appointment being in the early part of the afternoon we have therefore taken things steadily and just pottered doing this and that but nothing really substantial in the run up to going to ...

Tuesday and a few little purchases

We had a really rough night last night with Missy.  I had to get up twice to swab her down with water as she just did not cope well with the heat.  She has not been much better today either.  Not much sleep was achieved, and G got up and went without me realising he had gone.  I ended up getting up about 10:00am when Missy started calling again that she wanted to go out. The heat has also put paid to me doing anything today and absolutely nothing has been achieved and with Missy as well it has been very much a quiet day otherwise. I managed to play catch up with my older cousin J.  Boy was it lovely to catch up with him it has been a few years. He is more like an older brother and we are going to keep in touch from now on in.  Apparently he is not going to let me escape this time.  He lives in Wales and loves it.  Still the lovely cheeky sense of humour and it was though the years in-between had never happened and that we had picked up from the la...

Getting things done Fridge and Dehydrating

I was able to watch the last of the lady moon last night through the bedroom window as I was supposedly meant to do!   I find it so soothing, watching her in all her magnificence.  However it turned out to be a rough night last night between the two animals.  Mischief is in season (she is a housecat only) and she decided to yell.  Missy equally decided that last night was the night for moving about everywhere except where she should be.  We have a fan on for her as well as a lovely ice blanket from Aunty Kelly to try and keep her chilled for which I am very grateful.  Aunty Kelly writes her own blog at Domesticated Pagan UK.  Missy however has always been a bit of a diva!  Not many hours sleep therefore. It was beautiful at 6:00am this morning, lovely and cool, and then the Sun started to put in an appearance and it has gradually heated up to be a very hot day.  I have therefore kept to the house as the humidity is a bit high. I will be ...

A bit of this and that

Lots of little pottering projects today, just been mindfully going about tasks in my own peace Not been in garden today as too warm at the moment but later on will go out and do a little bit when it cools down a bit.  As a result a perfick day for pottering. I have carried on with more of the Long Keeping Mint Sauce and  now have two jars for my efforts to go onto the Pantry shelf.  I have taken a couple of stems to root as I seem to have every other variety of Mint in the garden apart from Garden Mint.  I managed to kill off the one I grew last year. I finished off drying the trays of ordinary Mushrooms I started yesterday.  They had their time, and I left them to cool overnight, but they needed a bit more drying this morning and so that is what has happened.  I also finished off drying my Chamomile that I had picked, and also a few Strawberry tops (from pudding last night were also dried).  There will be more to add in tonight as we have Strawb...
