Friday Catchup

Last Night

As well as a busy day on Thursday I also managed to quickly hit the Charity shop.  It was a straight in straight out visit as I really did not think I would find anything.  I found two china Cake Stands one square, and the other two tiered and frilled on the edges with a wooden centre handle.  More for cupcakes, slices that sort of thing.  Both very different to the items I already have in my collection and the prices silly.  I am therefore going to start off a box in the back bedroom with some of these items in to keep them safe and protected.    I want them out of the dining room into storage.

I therefore set too and started to re-arrange some boxes better on sizing and I am labelling up the boxes in order that I can find things easily.

Today

I am expecting some deliveries.  I have three lots of wallpaper due to arrive (the Plum Hathersage House Wallpaper totalling 8 rolls in all. I also have a storage tin for my dressing table with Roses on.  Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady item (which I think originally had toiletry items in it).  I am going to use the tin for popping in costume jewellery that sort of thing that I am wearing or want to wear. Items should arrive today or tomorrow.

I have been trying to locate my copy of the Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady Craft book, as there are a couple of projects that I want to crochet over winter.  I like to get fabrics, wool etc. together in advance so that I am ready to go when I decide to start a project.  It is the way I tend to work by choice.  It gives me something to do and keep me out of  mischief. I hate to be bored and get a bit twitchy if I do not have anything to do (which is rare). Not quite sure where my book is at the moment, I suspect the front bedroom.  Will locate it though.

The Plans for Today

I am going to be working between the main Bathroom and the Kitchen today.  I am hoping to get both these rooms sorted by the end of the weekend. The Pantry is more or less there apart from some more tweaking and getting baking stuff into the box under the shelf. Then can go and get flooring for the kitchen and the bathroom and some paint as well as a basic wallpapering kit. That will probably be at the beginning of next week in reality. Probably Tuesday but will try and get before.

I have also asked G if we can tackle the front garden, get rid of the rubbish that is there, get the hedges (the Cotoneaster and the Privet) back in line and then weed the gravel, and declutter it.  I now know where the hedge-trimmer is so hopefully weather permitting that will get tackled and we will then get the rubbish down to the tip and out of the way.  That will be one less thing to deal with.  Very much dealing with jobs that will be reasonably quick to do to get them out of the way with.  The jobs that are straightforward as it were although still time consuming.

The Reality

I was later up than intended.  Missy was an absolute pain last night and just would not settle. After a couple of hours she flopped down by my side of the bed and has been knocked out since then as is always the case.

However work has carried on in the bathroom to start with and the washing has commenced again. I have also got the washing I have done dried on the line.  So a slow burning success as I am wading through things terribly slowly but it is happening.

I am concentrating on getting all the kitchen things out of the bathroom today. Well am trying but have not quite managed to achieve it.  This will have to continue tomorrow. Something that will have to keep plugging away at. It is the sort of work that is time-consuming and tedious but needs doing.  Space is slowly starting to open up in there, but still a long way to go.  Must keep at it.  Will be good to get this room sorted so that the painting and the flooring can begin.

On the Gardening front, hopefully at some point I will get to do a little potting up.  I will make time to do some of this although that did not happen today.  To start with it will be potting up the Courgettes. They are Triffids compared to what they were as is the Comfrey!

On the front garden front, this will either happen tomorrow or Sunday.  The front hedge has gone mad as has the Cotoneaster and once done will need to go down to the tip.  The tip visit might happen Monday though as it tends to be less busier than the weekends.

Tomorrow

I shall carry on from where I left off this evening with the bathroom.  Pushing ahead on this front as once everything is out and despite the fact I will be doing a deep clean in readiness for decorating I should be able to progress well with it if I al left to my own devices.

We do need to go to the Butcher though as I need eggs.  We use a lot and I will probably snaffle a couple of trays. There are also a few other things which are needed as well.

I am hopeful that we can get to B & Q as well as I want some decorating bits but also a few more plants i.e another Cucumber.  I certainly want some Lavender both English and French and also some Hydrangeas.  I also need to go into town to B & M to get a few bits as well on the gardening front and to look around generally.  I need some more pots and drip trays.  Even though I had a lot to start with I now need quite a few more. I also need to go to Sostrene Grene for some crochet cotton.  Not sure whether will get tomorrow or whether it will be at the beginning of the week.

Will have to see what tomorrow brings.

Meant to be warm over the weekend.  Hopefully will get a better night's sleep tonight and an early start tomorrow.

Have a lovely evening one and all.

Catch you soon.
