Craft Room/Computer Room/ Study

All done and dusted.  Now I can move in at my leisure which I am really looking forward to doing and to playing. This room is now officially done out!

It is not only the sewing machines that I want to play with as I have a whole host of UFOs to tackle as well as unravelling wool.  All different methods of crafting all need finishing off. There are also a myriad of different new kits and projects on top of that.  I now feel that I can work comfortably at any one thing at a time of an evening now going forward.

In reality I cannot afford to buy in new stuff, but give me fabric and I can make something that will stand us in good stead for the foreseeable future.  I remember when I was at home as a teenager Mum had me sewing up pillowcases from torn sheets.  That is how I learned how to use a sewing machine.  It was a hand model and I do wish I had kept it now.  There we are though as I had a couple of good machines and also a vintage Singer I chose to let someone else have it to learn with.

I have now however started on tidying one wall of the back bedroom.  This is going to take a little while, but as I said to Geoff I want to be able to focus on one project at a time until it is done in order that I get the bare basics of what I am after achieving sorted out.  The rest can follow on from there. The back large bedroom is the general storage room in the house and I really need to go through it again. It is not set up to be used as a bedroom. I had sorted part of the room but then got derailed.  Therefore looking to restart progressing this and sorting out more stuff that do not necessarily want in an effort to create some more space as there are plenty more items yet to get in.

This initial wall in this room is mostly UFO projects that need dealing with however I do need to organise quite a bit of stuff so that it can be accessed easily

Before I start sewing and crafting though, first of all I have a pile of paperwork to deal with and sort out so no sewing or crafting tonight.

I have a load of recipes to type up as well, which will probably not take me as long as it would most other people as I have used a keyboard for my occupation for 40+ years.  These days perhaps a little slower however do know my way around a keyboard.  Am after creating a physical and a computerised store of recipes I use on a regular basis, as well as instruction books and yet to try recipes.  My logic is that if they are on the computer I can locate them pretty quickly.  By preference though I prefer to have physical folders so that I can spend some time rooting through for what I want and then work from there.  The other reason for me popping up the recipes on the computer is that in due course I intend to make my own recipe cards which I am going to laminate to keep them clean.  That is the plan in any event.

It has been a warmer afternoon here today but very windy.  The Sun has however been out to play.  Supposed to be a lot warmer tomorrow. I might be able to get out into the garden and sort the herb garden area out tomorrow or indeed into the main garden.  Depends on how warm it is. During the week I want to see if I can get hold of some fresh Rosemary for rooting on and maybe some Sage Plants as well.  Will see what happens.  I find so much peace in the garden.

Tonight for tea we have a bought in Chinese style meal to save me time in the kitchen and enable me to get on with the projects in hand.  Only a Chicken sweet and sour I am however hungry and looking forward to this.

Back Bedroom here I come.

Have a lovely evening everyone.

Catch you soon.

  2. We were of the same mind today. I also cleaned up my office space and posted photos of my accomplishment. Everything in your craft room looks well organized. This will be so helpful when you finally get the chance to do your projects.

    1. Hi Sandra, great mind's think alike! It feels good to have it under some form of control again though. Well done to you for doing your office too. I am going to have to down tools at some point and just play with the machine. I have put some fabric on the desk in readiness. Lots to do. Take care Tricia xx

  4. How wonderful to have a space to yourself for all your hobbies - as well as your computer set up. All that hard work has certainly been worth it - enjoy your space.

    1. Hi Margie, we sorted this out as a general room for us both to work in. However ideally I could do with more space as a lot of stuff is still in the back bedroom. It will sort though. Patience xx Tricia xx
