Progressing Nicely

It has been a cold and damp day here I think; it is certainly a lot chillier this evening.

Work has been and is progressing nicely in the Craft Room/Study Computer Room.  Taking a lot longer than envisaged but it is getting a proper clear out so much so that only the items needed for getting stuck into my crafting are on the desk.  I have decanted most of the other items including two large piles of books in the back bedroom.  It is a case of playing shuffle board at the moment as there are still a few things that are needed in this room but which I cannot get to at present.  All of this is intended to make my life easier at the end of the day. I will therefore get to the kitchen once things are a bit clearer upstairs.

Next off I will have to do a tidy up in the back bedroom as things have just been left in there at the moment and things really do need a tidy up.  I suspect that is what I will be doing tomorrow in an effort to get things clutter free before I finish off my desk area and also the space to work. The bulk of the work has been done.  Photos to follow probably tomorrow.

I have pre-warned G that I will be using the sewing machines and that the next thing he will be doing will be complaining because I am making a noise.  I have waited far too long to be able to do this. I kept waiting, but I am past that now I really want to be playing.  Not that I am an expert I have however always enjoyed needlework and sewing and crafting.  It is something I was for the best part taught to do at home along with cooking.  Life skills really.

I have several small silly projects I want to play with just to get me used to my sewing machine again which is a Janome.  I have only used it a few times and really want to get used to operating it again.  Hence a few unplanned for projects but thought would make some useful things that are needed for the house to start with so effectively killing two birds with one stone as the saying goes.  Some of the material is going to be coming from the scrap bag.  Some larger projects for instance  are a carrier bag holder and I also need some proving cloths for when I make bread.  I also need to do some sewing for the Pantry to pretty it up a bit.  Most of the fabric I have inhouse in any event.  That is another story in itself.

In reality I am dealing with over 40 years' worth of stuff that has been accumulated so realistically it is not going to be solved quickly.  At least it is being tackled though.

Once this room is all back together again, that is three rooms cleaned out i.e. the kitchen, pantry and the craft/study/computer room.  Slow and steady wins the race.

I then have a pile of official paperwork to deal with.

A load of recipes to record and keep safe which involves typing and keeping on my computer.

I equally have a pile of recipe cards to sort out and file.

Same for knitting patterns, embroidery patterns etc.

I tend to use Lever Arch style files for sorting these out.

Right my back is kicking off a bit tonight so am off to tidy a little more and then have a few hours to myself before retiring to the land of nod.

Have a lovely evening everyone.

Catch you soon.

  1. With your recipes could you not photograph them and store them that way, less typing, I find it has worked for me.

    1. I do not have the capacity on my storage to do that at the moment, however it is a nice idea and one that I will bear in mind. I do not mind the typing as am relatively quick at it - was my occupation for over 40 years xx Tricia xx
