Liberation - Meal Plan for the Week

Well we certainly liberated a lot of items from the freezer this evening.   It will be another couple of weeks before both the large chest freezer and the smaller upright one will be emptied enough to strip them out.  They will then need cleaning and then put them back into service again and to start re-stocking them.  It is a necessary evil in the life-story of a freezer but at least that freshens everything up and you can get in a whole range of different things to tempt the palate and stockpile items to make further batches of things later during the year.

Today I have liberated the following:

Four pork steak/chops
2 racks of ribs (for tea tonight)
2 packs of 10 filo pastry prawns (for supper later)
1 large leg of lamb
1 bag of French beans
1 large Prawn ring
1 bag of Strawberries
2 bags of Gooseberries
1 bag of mixed peppers
Mince
Duck breasts

So quite a lot to go at.

We were going to have Lasagna tonight but have changed this to ribs.

Here is the proposed meal plan for this week:

MEAL PLANNING COMMENCING SUNDAY 6 JANUARY 2019
SUNDAY
Roast lamb studded with garlic, peas, sprouting broccoli and carrots with mash and roasties.

Gooseberry crumble for pudding

MONDAY
Lasagna

Bread and butter pudding made from a Pannetone

TUESDAY
Home-made leftover Lamb Shepherds pie

Either Gooseberry crumble or bread and butter pudding for pudding

WEDNESDAY
Pork chops with sage and onion stuffing, veggies and gravy.

Pudding strawberry trifle.

THURSDAY
Duck a l’orange with veggies

Pudding trifle if any left over

FRIDAY
Chilli with tortillas

SATURDAY
Sausage and tomatoes.

I will be doing some baking tomorrow when I am cooking the lamb for during the week as well.  That way round we should not do too badly in the greater scheme of things.  I can always make as extras during the week a batch of Scotch pancakes, maybe some shortbread, rock buns or indeed they may get made tomorrow.  As long as there is plenty of food to keep the wolf from the door that is all that matters.  I will also put a batch of veggie stock on tomorrow for use in soups and also with gravy.  Too important not to make use of it and soup is ideal for me to have mid-day or for OH to take with his pack up.

What do you have planned for your meals this week?

Catch you soon.
