Today has been a bit of a disaster

A major detour on what I had planned for today. Last night I took the time to prep up some more stuff for the #everybitcountschallenge to finish off this morning. Unfortunately real life intervened and I have had to make a wide detour on what was planned and only one of the things will actually get made this evening.  To make matter worse I prepped up a load of vinegar for a project and managed to drop the lot.  Now have a kitchen ponging of vinegar despite being cleaned up.  So will have to give it another scrubbing over in a little while.  Then will have to do the vinegar again. I hope I have enough.  If not it will have to wait until tomorrow when I can source some more.

I had planned on doing the bread again today, but with the sort out in the kitchen I am putting that off again until tomorrow.  Will get it into the mixer for kneading first thing, and then as planned for today will get it in the oven after 6pm tomorrow when I should have more time to play with it.  I do not want the process to be rushed as I want to get this right. 

In between times I have discovered some packages of herbs and spices and as I have empty jars have decanted them into containers and labelled up so that I can find stuff.  They have been added to the dresser.

Also am getting a nice little collection of items together on the dresser.  The Bay leaves have dried naturally in baskets on the dresser.  I just turned them every day.  They seem to have retained their colour better. They have been decanted into a larger storage jar that sits alongside my Mustard seed.  I also have home grown and dried chives, Orange peel, Allspice, Whole Black Pepper, Aniseed and Mace all bottled  up.  I will do the rest as I come across it.  I still need to source some more jars though.  Have been using the Douwe Egbert Coffee jars by recycling them. Waste Not Want Not in other areas of my life too.  I have another batch of Bay leaves to dry, and will hang some more bunches off the dresser

I also have to wrangle some kitchen gadgets and equipment back into the cupboards they were taken out of.  Want it neat and tidy so that I can get on and find stuff.

We have had a lovely tea tonight a home made Cottage Pie.  It has onions, carrots, leek and mashed potato in it.  Just serve a large portion on its own.  Was very tasty.  OH has been back for seconds, and then there is enough for us both again mid-day tomorrow.  Do not like wasting stuff at all.

I have some processing to do in a little while; hopefully unless I knock it over it should not take too long.  Have to get my jars sterilised first though.  There will be more on what am doing tomorrow as it is tied in with another item.

So just this one item to do tomorrow, then I can sort out the kitchen and hopefully get stuck in again tomorrow.
