Slow Progress in the Pantry/Kitchen
Friday
I have been in the Pantry for most of the day trying to get things sorted a bit more. Have managed to sort out quite a few things together and bagged them so like items with like, and that will make things easier when it comes to siting them in their homes. I am having to re-jig things as I go along, which is slightly slowing things down even further. Some shelves are not going to be as I had envisioned but a lot of organisation has been achieved which I am pleased about. Will just keep working at it until it is sorted for as much as I can. I know I am going to have to go back in, with items from the dining room, but at the moment I am just trying to get the immediate items put up and out of the way. I am trying to get the stuff in the bottom of the Pantry sorted and organised as well as those items in the kitchen first off.
I have had to put stuff back into the Pantry for tonight even though I have not finished with them. The Pantry door sits right in front of the back door and it has therefore been necessary to do this due to access difficulties otherwise.
We have had the remnants of the stew made yesterday and yet again it has done the job, warmed us up and filled our bellies. Very tasty. Hopefully it will be steak pie tomorrow night for tea with veggies or if not tomorrow then definitely for Sunday. Warmer meals are really needed at the minute, and I do tend to go back to the old favourites. I will cook the steak with some onions and carrots in the pressure cooker to make pie filling, and then make a batch of shortcrust pastry in my new food processor and see how I get on with making pastry in this. I also want to make some shortbread which is another family favourite. Kitchen not tidy to do a lot at the moment, but will slip in a bit here and there as I can.
Plans for Tomorrow
Tomorrow we are hoping to go to the Fish man at Ramsey and then onwards to Johnsons of Old Hurst Farm shop as it has been a long while since we last visited. I want to see if there are any bits to put up for Christmas. If we need anything from their Butchery will go back before Christmas itself for the fresh items. I am just generally concentrating on shelf safe items for the time being.
If all goes to plan tomorrow and I get to go to the Farm shop, then when we return and have put bits away (if applicable), I shall then set too and carry on with the Pantry. There is already a lot of stuff in there, with loads more still to go in from the dining room.
Saturday
Well we all know that plans go awry!
Well they seem to in this household. One of the difficulties we have is in leaving Missy. If we do leave her, we leave her in the warmth in her bed when she is fast asleep. Most other mornings she is flat out, come a Saturday morning though different kettle of fish. We have to leave when she is not awake as otherwise the poor neighbours would be suffering from the lonesome wail of one's Jack Russell. It is difficult especially when you need to go out and cannot take her with you. There are just some places she cannot go.
This morning was such a morning; I had set the alarm, we thought we were going to get away with it and suddenly she jumped up from being fast asleep and there was just no way could leave her especially as she showed no sign of going back to sleep.
Weather was rough too; wind particularly rough so we decided not to chance it today, even though I was disappointed decided we would probably go to the Butcher one day during the week and that would try the fish man again next Saturday (only day he is there).
Needless to say since then, one's Jack Russell has settled down and is in the land of nod. She is cosy and comfortable which is all that matters. Missy does get quite a bit of attention as does Mischief!
Back into the Pantry
I really need to go to Waitrose however I have chosen not to venture out today. Will get down there tomorrow if I can as there are one or two bits I need to complete some projects namely fresh herbs and some other bits and bobs. It will give me chance to organise things a bit better on some of the projects in any event. Will therefore see what tomorrow brings.
Therefore, have been back into the Pantry plodding on and continuing with the massive sort out job.
There are still a lot of preserves on the top shelves in the Pantry, today is their time to come down to be stored elsewhere for the interim until we can get the under-stair cupboard all sorted out, but out of the Pantry so that the shelves can be utilised better. I have some poly containers with baking goods in that are good candidates at the moment for being put up out of the way, but will see what is in the larger container first to see what is in there as this may change the order of items going in. It may be that a slightly bigger tub is needed for the baking ingredients and that other items can go on the shelves.
Change of Plan
As the sorting of the Pantry has been causing movement problems, even though I started in the Pantry today, I have changed plans. Logically to me it makes much more sense to tackle and tidy the kitchen so that I can put the stuff out of the bottom of the Pantry there so that I can sort out, quickly and efficiently as I will be able to see everything and still move easily, especially through comings and goings through the back door. It is not good to block doorways in any event as it prevents energy from moving around. Well that is what I believe in any event. Therefore as I want to attract good energy no blocked up doorways (well am working on it).
I am part way through the kitchen, things are starting to clear. I still have a little way to go though. Pantry is out of bounds until the kitchen is completely sorted. Correction until everything is put away, and I can sort out the boxes in the kitchen itself. I am continuing to work into the evening, and hopefully should be able to get back to the Pantry again tomorrow. That is the aim in any event.
Therefore a relatively busy day. Horrible weather wise though. Hopefully will get some brighter and slightly warmer days going forward. Garden needs some attention.
Hope everyone keeps safe and warm.
Catch you soon.

I don't like blocking doorways either. I read a bit about Feng Shui years ago, but had not made the connection with blocking doors blocking energy before. With me it is just an instinctive thing not to do it. Interesting...
ReplyDeleteHi Tracy, think it is a Feng Shui thing originally. We are all surrounded by energy whether we can see it or not. Often we can feel it before we see it. Our own Auras are an energy field that encompass our bodies.. When we are poorly they shrink but when functioning they often expand which can to some extent explain when we are feeling good or not so good. Keeping doorways open is meant to keep the flow going through the house, which refreshes it. Blocked doorways stop the energy from circulating and refreshing as I understand it. There is at the end of the day more energy usually circulating than we can see, but it does not mean it is not there. Instinctively, when you meet someone for the first time, sometimes you like them, sometimes you are not so sure and sometimes no way. Should always trust that instinct as it is usually spot on. I tend to pick up on things whether I want to or not - one of my little traits. Take care Tricia xx
