Adding more pieces

After finding the Price Kensington Cottage-ware Jug the other day in the local Charity Shop, I went trawling on Ebay and have managed to source five Coffee Mugs and six saucers to feed my collecting habit and to  add to my small Price Kensington collection.  I need to locate one mug to marry up to make this a set of six coffee mugs.

I have also purchased what I believe is a large water jug, also on a good price.  All the good offers seem to be coming in at the moment, but I am going to have to draw a line somewhere.  This works out with postage to Ā£16.

Now in a box somewhere, I have six tea plates and saucers that I picked up from a vintage shop quite a few years ago.  I am therefore looking to source the tea cups as well; as I have said above, I will also look for another odd mug or two in due course.  This was something on my list, but the price was very good for these which is why I have indulged now; Ā£20 for the set which includes postage.  Should be here by the weekend.  I will no doubt add a few more pieces in due course but I want to go steady in doing this.  The biscuit barrel is sitting on my Dresser already.  The jug I bought the other day will also be going on there as will the mugs and water jug when they arrive.  I will try and locate the rest of the small collection I do have and then try and get that on the Dresser too.

I just love pottery, glassware and pretty beautiful stuff.  The outline plan as I mentioned the other day is that one day I will have the Farmhouse kitchen of my dreams.  The Dressers have always been an integral part of this, with probably a few more pieces of pine freestanding furniture added as well.  I have a Pine table and chairs, but my idea has always been to try and source another similar table and chairs in due course so that there are enough seats for family and extended family to come and eat and/or stay which they cannot do here.

I have a collection of vintage vases as well.  I am particularly fond of vintage vases from 1930s onwards.   This particular one is a large vase and an absolute beauty. It was one of my more expensive buys. The colourway matches in beautifully with my front room colours with the vase colours more subtle whereas the colours in my front room are more rich and vibrant.  This is an Arthur Wood vase what is called a "Garden Basket" from what I understand.  The pity is I actually had a couple of vintage plant stands, but due to lack of space I ended up sending them to the Charity Shop.  Some of these vases would have looked pretty good on them.

and this one yet again designated for the kitchen.  This is described as a Salt glaze Oatmeal and Teal Vase.

and this one designated for the dining room a Wedgewood  Etruria & Barlaston Moonstone bowl.

There are outline, plans, dreams, reasons and considered choices that have been made over many years surrounding all these items and many more.  We were only supposed to be here a couple of years and then to buy our own house; however real life has more than got in the way on that front.  My pocket money, my extra bits of money have all gone towards nice things.

My theme for my dream kitchen has always been lighter cheerful colours like lemon and poppy reds, blue and green as well. The primary colours without being too bright more on the subtle side.  Chickens also play their part as do tin advertising plaques and vintage advertising memorabilia. For instance, I found this Chicken vase recently which is also rather lovely.  This was described as a vintage Majolica Rooster Planter vase and I love it.

There is also the fact that I have long been a fan of The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady homeware, particularly the Poppy Print for the kitchen and dining area as well as a joined living area.  I have a lot of items in this particular range which I have also collected over many years.  I dream big me, when I dream.

I already have a few rolls of the Poppy Wallpaper which was produced by Vymura.  I have always had a love of wildflowers, corn stooks, haystacks, butterflies etc.

Talking of Butterflies in the past I have popped up posts of worked needlepoint pieces with poppies and Butterflies on them.  However I cannot remember whether I shared these little cross stitch embroidery pieces which were recently bought, yet again to go with them.  They are only tiny but extremely charming.  I am hoping to get these started soon.  However as I have not been able to settle to any crafting recently for the past three weeks or so, I have a suspicion that is not going to happen soon.  I also have projects that I have on the go to finish first.

Lots going on as usual.  Not what I had anticipated, been off in a slightly different direction recently though.  More home based but not specifically tidying etc. although I am back on the bandwagon with that again this week.

I am also hoping to get to some preserving soon as well.  More on that when I get to it.  I am feeling the urge to preserve just cannot get down to it on a practical basis.

Will see how this week goes.

Catch you all soon.
