Feet up - Resting
Last night it rained a lot and the wind got up a lot too. We woke up to a chillier day, where the sun has sporadically popped out, but it certainly has been a lot colder.
Today for me has been a no go day. Unfortunately, I was not very well last night; think I had something that has upset my tummy. This happens occasionally since I had my Gall Bladder removed. My body does not tolerate any kind of fat (I have already mentioned that I have to use semi-skimmed milk these days). Thus far it has been very much a try it and see operation i.e. if I am unwell with a particular ingredient, then I do not go there again. It is what it is and unknowingly a self-inflicted situation. For the best part I am okay, just the odd thing that really does upset me. It can apparently happen after surgery although each case is very different. I did not sleep very well last night as a result. I am going to have to watch things a bit more carefully in future. In fairness it has been a while since the last incident.
Hey ho, these things are sent to try us; the rest seems to have done some good and I am now up and fighting!
I am now "bored" of resting up, although I have not wasted any time. I have written a few new recipes to me to experiment with in the near future - Vegan sweet recipes which I am keen to explore - there are a couple of recipes I am particularly interested in and the links are here for those of you also wanting to try something different. The first is a Vegan Picnic Bar
and
Both recipes are from Helen's Vegan Kitchen which is on Instagram. Link below:
I am very much looking forward to trying these two recipes out. I just need to collate/assemble the ingredients together. These may be the end of the month buy ingredients as a lot of the ingredients I do not have, but once I have them I should be able to also try out similar based recipes. There are some lovely recipes on here, not that I am a Vegan, but I am looking for healthier ways for some treats, whether they be sweet, savoury or indeed a full main meal. We do quite like our veggies here in any event.
I do love my books and I have been going through a particularly old book this morning and have identified a couple of recipes (for the moment) to also try in the coming weeks. Yet again I need to source an ingredient, and then I will be having a go at these. This one is likely to happen a bit quicker than the Vegan recipes. I am looking to try new recipes here and there, but instead of going all in and "Gung-Ho", I am trying to plan a bit more and try the recipes out over a short period without going OTT! Expenses dictate that at the moment. These I am going to try first and then report back.
I am going to have a look at some knitting tonight, to see if I can catch up and get the rest of the front finished in order that I can then start to cast on a sleeve.
For the past few nights we have eaten well and as a result I have not really been that hungry. OH fetched buns from the bakery this morning and so I suggested that we have like a Charcuterie board or a "pick n mix" as I call it for tea, i.e fresh buttered crispy rolls with a selection of pies, cheeses, charcuterie meats, pickled onions, piccalilli with lots of hot tea. Has gone down very nicely. Still loads left. This suited me just fine and has not been too heavy, which is what was needed today. We like a "pick n mix" charcuterie session every so often. Unfortunately forgot to take photos of the selection we did have. It has also given me a night off of cooking which I occasionally do need!
Needless to say I have a lot to do tomorrow.
Hope everyone is keeping warm and safe.
Catch you soon.

When I was learning to knit about 60 years ago my mother-in-law taught me to cast on and knit both sleeves at the same time from two separate skeins of yarn. That way they were identical in length, and one could make sure all increases and decreases were identiical in their location. Have you ever done that?
ReplyDeleteHi Ana, No I haven't. Mum didn't do that either. Although, I had wondered. Even though I grew up around a knitting mad mother (hand and machine knitting) of any description. I was so slow and Mum used to end up taking it off me and knitting a bit then passing it back to me. I sort of became disillusioned with it and it was only a couple of years ago I started doing a little bit. Although I am aware of a lot, when it comes into putting it into practice is another matter and am easily confused with some patterns. I keep trying though. Will try this when I come to the sleeves. It makes sense. I would like to knit another one of these in due course. Thank you. Tricia x
DeleteSorry you've been unwell. Hope you are back to normal today. I am hurting from decorating the pink bedroom - doing the end wall at top speed so Tam can help me back with the furniture whilst she's here last night/today. I have arthritis in my neck and the worst thing for it is reaching up - and the upstairs rooms have lofty ceilings and tall walls! I had Ibuprofen for breakfast . . .
