Evening all

Well its been a busy day was back to work - what a thing to do on one's birthday - go to work!

Never mind I have made up for it this evening and been to see my step-daughter and grandson and was bought a lovely little something by them and then on to my mum's.  Have had a fish and chip supper, was given a lovely present by my mum, but best of all she had made me a cake.  We all love my mum's cake even my nephews who cannot get enough of them.

This was the lovely cake that mum made me, made with lots of love.





And the lovely lady who is my Mum

    Happy birthday - even if you did have to work. The cake looks sublime, and how lovely to still have a mother to make cakes for you. (Actually, I can't ever recall my mother making me a cake, even when she was alive; but she was wonderfully supportive of the crazy things I got up to!)

    Thank you for your good wishes Ann. One of my first memories was of my Mum making me a birthday cake as a little girl and she served it up on a beautiful cobalt blue surround square cake stand with a metal base, but there were butterflies hand decorated on that cake stand. It was only ever used for this occasions. Some years ago my mum gave me the cake stand which is well treasured and only bought out on special occasions. Its always the little things or the belongings inherited which might not be valuable but which have a valuable memory or story attached to them that always gets me - a bit sentimental I am, but its all part of the rich tapestry of who I am and where I come from. I just wish you could taste her cakes they are fab.
