Treasure
Well I popped to the Charity shop this morning and the items I had spotted last week had as I suspected already gone. (I am working on the principle that if there is not much spare cash to hand if I leave something I would quite like and then go back and it is still there then I was meant to have it). Some you win and some you lose. However for the princely sum of £7.50 today I have managed to bag a brand new water carafe decorated by hand with painted flowers which cost me £3. I quite frequently wake up at night needing a sip of water so this will do very nicely. On closer inspection it would appear to be a Laura Ashley water carafe and glass and it still has its price tag on the base for £18.00. So I think I did very well.
I also managed to pick up four green ramekins for 80 pence for the four. They are that lovely Spring green which I really love and they are from Cargo. Yet again they appear to be hardly used.
The final item is a set of four white porcelain fluted flan dishes (individual ones the size that Marks and Spencer sell their individual flans at) for £1.50 for the four.
I had already managed to find a larger porcelain one for £1.50 the other week (although this one is patterned from Marks and Spencer). All useful bits and bobs when engaging in home baking.
I have also managed to pick up a metal enamelled gift basket (empty) which will be a useful container either for my hair brushes or in which to do a silk flower display for the windowsill.
So I am really pleased with my finds today and whats more they will be extremely useful
Oh and here are a couple of photographs of the posy vase I managed to find the other day and also the linen and lace tablecloth
So I did not do too badly
Catch you all later on

Well done!
ReplyDeleteLove the water carafe/glass and also the little ramekins.
Thanks Kimmie, I was well chuffed the water carafe and glass is now in use on my bedside. The ramekins will get used as I tend to make a couple of different types of pudding and pop them in the fridge (that's when I am organised tad not so at the moment).
DeleteTake care and hope you are getting on okay with the Diabetes.

I love the finds - all very pretty and useful as well, so win-win.
ReplyDeleteHope you are feeling better now?
Thanks Compostwoman - I like pretty and useful - and I have seen the price of little flans in Marks and Spencer and have decided that it would be a good way of using up some bits and pieces that need using up in the fridge as always have eggs and milk to hand. I have recently come across a method of putting in foil strips to lift out the cooked quiche or flan so that I can freeze them. Just need the time now to play in the kitchen. Am hoping will be able to at the weekend. Am feeling a lot better than I did but with air conditioning in the office I work in I have my fingers crossed I don't get any more lurgies.

You have a good eye for bargains .
ReplyDeleteThank you Angie, I like going round car boots and charity shops - I could make it a full time hobby trouble is I would not be able to store anything. But I do like pretty and useful.

You certainly scored some great finds :o)
ReplyDeleteThe carafe is so pretty, and useful too. Love the basket and the tablecloth too.
I too hope you are feeling much better.

Hi Rose,
DeleteI am well chuffed with my finds - with regard to the carafe I did not see it, it was only when one of the assistants popped it on the shelf that I realised what it was. A very happy find. I like to try and match things up. I like nice things. The glass sundae dishes I found a couple of weeks ago I had already managed to find four (which are packed away upstairs) so I now have a set of 8 which will look very pretty on the Christmas table. (My dining table is an eight seater). The tablecloth will wash and press up with a little time and effort. I was taught at school how to deal with lace and embroidered pieces and they always look so much lovelier. Am a lot better now thank you.

Well done, someone elses junk is anothers prize.
ReplyDeleteLove the little flan dishes I could do with those, maybe we wouldn't eat so much if we just had individual one's. lol

Hi Briony thanks for popping by. I like matching and mixing things up a bit and besides some of the older things just need a little tlc and they soon become useful again. When it comes to quiche or flan I am rather fond of especially with a salad I thought the individual ones would be better for me in that I would not be able to over indulge and put more inches on my waistline.
DeleteTake care and thanks for popping by
