Friday catch up

Oh what a busy day.  Think in total I have walked about 4 miles all told all in.

It was really cold this morning and it took me a while to warm up whilst I was walking. It took me 45 minutes to walk to the hospital from home then 45 minutes back.  Then another 30 minutes into town.  Met my friend had a good chin wag and then wandered round town and then came back home which took another 30 minutes or so.  I have walked my legs off today.  Tad tight on the hips now so it will be an easier day tomorrow.  On the way back picked up a load of fir cones and intend to go back for a few more.  Shall take my Trug with me to collect some more.  I have friends who have open fires so I shall make some fire-starters with some of the cones for them.

Amazingly enough whilst collecting some of the cones something purple caught my eye.  Three plants of wild violets all with flowers on.  Crazy.

Consultant seemed happy with me.  He thinks it is the Osteoarthritis in the hip which is causing the problem with stairs at the moment.  I already knew I had what they call degenerative changes in the hip and have had this for sometime.

He does not want to see me for a year although has ordered some specialist testing which they did at the time that they first diagnosed me.  An in-depth specialist heart examination and then a lung test. These are to be sent to me in the post. He has been very specific in that if I should start to huff and puff for no reason I am to get back in touch asap.  Apparently it is the lungs that are affected first with changes to the scleroderma and the heart also.  Because of the fact that my immune system is reduced and I pick up and hold on to infections I specifically asked what he wanted me to do.  He has left that very much as it is with me if I am not happy about something to go to see the GP although he took my point about being prescribed antibiotics all the time.  I must deal with each infection as it presents.

He is pleased that I am mobile and walking all over the shop - it is doing something for myself.  He is very supportive of anyone who tries to look after themselves.  I told him that I have far too much living to do and that my foot is now so much more stable which he was pleased about.  Of course I got sent to see the vampires for blood tests.  Shipping order as usual on three separate sheets with about nine different tests involved.  If there is anything wrong they will soon shout.

Got home about 3:30pm.  Came home via the Christmas decorations in M & S, John Lewis and Waitrose.  It is a feast for the eyes even though I am spending nothing.

OH came home and then we walked the dog.  I really had done too much as had to keep stopping as leg kept tightening.

Tea tonight baked beans on toast followed by tinned fruit salad and thick sterilised tinned cream. They both went down very nicely.

Not been too bad a day and a lot better than the rest of the week.

Hopefully action stations tomorrow.  OH is working overtime again.

Catch you soon.

Hope everything is well in your lives and your part of the world.
