Friday Round Up

Am still full of cold.  That's the problem when you have a reduced immune system, it picks up anything and then hugs onto it for what seems forever. It also makes me sleep later than I should and the day ends up being gone before I know it.  In case you had not guessed I don't make a good patient at the best of time.

Being as I am still wonky, I have been sorting one or two bits as I go along, something that does not require extra physical effort and in an effort to be doing something.  During this foray, one of my UFOs fell out of its box.

It is a long stitch picture which I figure I must have bought about 23 years or more ago.  The kit is one of the Lakeland long stitch collection by Sue Daking and is of the mountains and one of the lakes. I sat and worked a little more of it. I am now going to have to try and find some more of the colours as I have run out think I have some spare from another one of these kits - leftover wool.  I shall look around tomorrow.  There is not much to work although what is there is fiddly lots of little bits, and depending on whether or not I am able to locate some more of the wool at home, it should not take too long to work and will then join the other finished pictures in this collection.  Not that I have many of them, but a selection.  It also feels good to be working on one of the UFOs.  I am going to swap between the current crochet blanket and this.  Some nights my eyesight is okay, another not so good.  So on the nights when it is not so good I will carry on with the crochet and vice versa.  One thing I do need though is a very good freestanding embroidery lamp with magnifier.  Will have to source that shortly.  I also need to locate another back chair (one of those that looks like a stool and has a kneeling section).  It is ideal for working at my slate frame stand.  All will come in due course.

We used to spend a lot of time in the Lake District and on one trip I found a beautiful pine fiddle back rocking chair; OH decided to buy it for me, but it turned out the chair would not be ready until sometime later.  We therefore booked another holiday to go and pick it up.  It sits in my bedroom and when I am tired and want piece and quiet I go up there sit in my chair, gently rock it and just chill.  I have some beautiful vintage embroidered cushions that need fixing up and they are designed to join the rocking chair in due course.  Because of their age they do need some attention to the seams, which will be dealt with in due course.

Tomorrow (Saturday), I need to sort one of the kitchen cupboards out to store some of the kitchen equipment I use on a regular basis in a safe place.  I have a lot of baking tins and they are destined to go into one of my large plastic tubs, and my baking trays in another.  They are going to be stored on top of the fridges in the dining room, so if I want a more specialist tin or a fancier tin I will have to fish them out.  Doing this will free up space for those items I use on a more regular basis in my very tiny kitchen.

Will get there eventually.

However I am chuffed I picked up a UFO.  In the meantime, I will work the difficult small parts of it to get them out the way with.

Catch you soon.
