Trip to the Tip
We have several trips to the tip today despite the rain to get rid of some of the rubbish I have managed to accumulate over the past few years. Only the damaged stuff will be dumped and the Charity shop has been the beneficiary of some Items I no longer want to keep.
Nevertheless the Covid 19 situation resulted in our local recycling centre being closed and it has only recently re-opened. However the collection service for old equipment etc. is still on hold and hopefully this will be resolved soon as I have three freezers and two fridges that no longer work to go there. Until they are shifted I have no room in the house for replacements. This is a service you have to pay for. You pay a specified fee for the collection not per item. As I have quite a few items it will probably be two collections that will be required. They only collect on the day of the general collection for your area and so it is hoops within hoops in getting collections organised and implemented. In any event you actually have to leave the items for collection on the pavement so we can only put them out either the night before collection or on the actual date. This is having a knock on effect with the rest of the house and future plans as well. I am hoping to get the dining room decorated and new flooring in prior to having new appliances delivered as well. Will have to see how things progress as this may be just a step to far at the moment.
Surprisingly we only had to queue on the first visit. Subsequent trips have been straight in and out. A much more streamlined service than the old recycling site. Will have more to take tomorrow as I have more work to do today.
Looks as though the rain has set in for the day.
Catch you soon.

I have used my local council's collection service several times and found it to be excellent (although a bit fiddly to set up). It's expensive if you just have one item to remove but here you can put out up to 5 for a flat fee or up to 10 for a slightly higher one - hope it's the same for you. I find a huge sense of relief and calm getting rid of clutter and I hope you're feeling really proud of the progress you're making.
