Maiden Voyage
Despite Tinky-Two passing just before we left for our trip and quite a few late nights getting things prepared and ready for said holiday Saturday morning arrived.
The fun started in the storage facility with OH trying to get the van out of its storage bay which was pretty tight. After several attempts, he managed it. The van after purchase had been placed into the storage bay by the facilitators as at that time the tow bar had not been fitted and they (Pioneer Caravans) had placed it there with the aid of a tractor. Whilst we had been cleaning and getting the van ready for the holiday it had not been moved; So really this was the first time he had done anything with this van.
We had predominantly loaded the van in the week apart from our clothes and fresh food items. However as the storage facility is some five or so miles up the road we took everything we needed with us and then left for holiday straight from storage. This holiday in particular was one for us to get to know the van, what we would need (other than those items we had already purchased and placed into the van. In retrospect I think we were sensible in not going too far from home for the first trip out - there was no pressure from other drivers or on ourselves; we just took our time.
Despite it being a good 15 years since we had owned a caravan and dull weather, (although we arrived in a rain storm). We arrived in one piece at our destination Woodhall Holiday Park which is a park literally just outside of Woodhall Spa itself. (we found out later that this facility belongs to Hoseasons). It is a mixed but lovely Park consisting of a mix of touring vans, motor homes, Lodges (private and rented) and accommodation pods. The site was lovely and on this particular trip we were nestled amongst the trees. Covid 19 precautions were in place which everyone adhered to but it did not impact on our holiday itself.
Fortunately there was a break in the weather on arrival, and despite it being 15 years since our last foray out with a van, we managed to get the basics sorted pretty quickly and were soon able to sit down with a cup of tea. This particular space was very generous, with room for your van, car parked alongside and then we had our awning up. This space
had electricity, water and waste facilities already plumbed in. All we had to do was get them situated in the correct spot and fill up the water barrels. The website is here for those of you who are interested. https://woodhallcountrypark.co.uk/

Once we had eaten we then went to explore. There were three lakes on this site for OH to go fishing if he so pleased. However Missy needed a walk, and there is a specific walk set aside for walking pets which was some way from our bay near the Reception so we went up in the car. It is a good job we did as it is a very long walk for your animals and there are about four routes. Despite recently having walking issues, Missy handled this well and we did not have to carry her which we were pleased about.
The rest of the evening was spent quietly watching some TV and just chilling - just what we had wanted and the site was lovely and peaceful although there were children playing they were not screaming and shouting. It was lovely to see. We were late to bed, because you just did not realise what the time was and we were out in the fresh air. It was wonderful.

This sounds like a wonderful start to your break and I'm glad it stopped raining or it wouldn't have been so much fun!
