Up to my ears

Today with cleaning in the Dining room.  Partial work yesterday, but still a long haul ahead.  You would be proud of me I have sent a load of stuff to the Charity shop today which I have decided that I no longer want or have a need for.  So that has been a bit of a success and I feel positive about that.  There will be more to go there tomorrow.

There has been lots of washing and cleaning going on as well.  There will be more work to do in here next week.  I have the Pantry to sort out on Saturday so it may be that I will go back to the dining room after the Pantry has been all sorted.

OH got the doors sorted in the bathroom and will be tidying that up tomorrow.

Still an awful lot to do, but as have said before it is only the depth that varies.

It is bitterly cold here in Peterborough tonight.  No doubt it is with  you too.

Please keep warm and safe wherever you are no matter your circumstances.

Hopefully will have more of a catch up tomorrow.

Catch you soon.

  1. Very satisfying moving things on. Note to self: do same with books you know you will probably never open again. Now, try not to fill that space with new stuff!

Did your husband get your new kitchen fitted in the end?

I hope you will find some time to rest as well.

    1. Jennie, got the base units done and hopefully will get the upper units done sometime next year. It is a lot tidier than it was and I have more cupboard space although have filled it up with stuff I use on a regular basis. A lot of my books I cannot get to at the moment, hopefully will be able to retrieve next week as I have missed them. I always use them a lot. A heck of a lot of stuff has gone to the charity shop and I have not bought anything new to me at all this year which is quite an achievement. Have not been shopping in town since the end of April no need to go and not many pennies spare so I have been really good for me. I did however yesterday see a beautiful old oil lamp unusually in blue glass. It was gorgeous £15. By the time I went back later in the day it had gone and I am not surprised it was a beauty. Once I have sorted everything out, then I might buy the odd thing but nothing like I used to. Loads of clothes have gone as well including long leg boots that no longer fit me. I used to be a 6 1/2 to 7 shoe size but since the bunion surgery have gone up to a size 8 and then it depends on the width. I promise I am being good even with the crafting. I would not say I am a reformed character but things I was not ready to let go I am gradually doing apart from the sentimental family stuff. Am now taking the approach do I really need this, shall I let it go. Maybe be able to find something in the future that would suit me better. No matter it is helping me slim things down a bit. Still no end to do, but the broom is going through the house quite radically. Charity shop is only round the corner so they are benefitting. It is only a little Charity that is called Hope for the Nations. Some of the stuff will help others and that pleases me. Hope you, Keith and the Moggies (including the babies) are doing well. Do you have the family coming for Christmas. Hope so for you xxx

    2. I am amazed you've gone since April without buying anything - well done! I always feel cleansed and refreshed when I get rid of things but like most people struggle to keep the empty space empty. I have a 'one in, one out' policy with books as our shelves are double stacked and so tightly packed we simply can't keep buying, so we both read anything new into the house and decide if either of us thinks we want to read it again, and if so, what's going to make room for it. I really need to work on my wardrobe, there's lots of stuff in there that I haven't worn for several years - 10 to 1 if I do get rid of something unusual the occassion I've been waiting a decade to come round will come round shortly afterwards, but that is life. I got rid of everything in my wardrobe that was too big before I moved, rather than keeping it in case I put weight back on. However I still have the very bad habit of buying bargains a size too small if they don't have my size, in the hope I'll exercise my way into them and some of those items have been lurking for too long. I need to either kick up the exercise in the new year, or let them go.

Rest your back for as long as it takes - the stuff's not going anywhere and it's not worth lengthy back problems just to have a tidy larder you know;) You will get there eventually, I'm sure.

    3. Thank you Fifitr. I have had partial clear outs before, however I did inherit a lot of stuff which I was not ready to get shot of. I have now dealt with some of this. I also have a lot of hobby and craft stuff as well as a lot of UFOs which I am attempting to clear and finish. Am in the right mind set at the moment as well. Just hope do not get dragged off onto something else that needs dealing with by OH! If he does a job he cannot do on his todd I have to assist (not to my mind but definitely to his). Have also been making use of a lot of what I have to hand so no need to buy at present. It is also working out well in that I am getting to clear stuff to what I really want to keep and actually need. Quite cathartic in one sense and for some of the things a little sad. At least someone else is going to enjoy them. You keep safe and warm and Merry Christmas to you and yours xxx
