A Bit under the weather

Many apologies for not being around for the past couple of days.  Real life has got in the way just a tad.  I have plenty of ideas of what I want to blog about, but sometimes, just sometimes the words go into the blue yonder and infinity never to be seen for a few days!

This Sunday I am going for my Ultrasound on my arm, which I am pleased about as it is becoming a bit of a hindrance.  It would be my predominant arm as well, which has slowed me up a bit with doing stuff.  Will see what the diagnosis is and take it from there. I don't make a good patient at the best of times.

I have been taking the time whilst I am quiet to research some new to me recipes and ideas, which hopefully will come out in the next few weeks.  As I say lots of ideas, lots of plans, but the body does have to co-operate for me to have to do these.  Still a nice little stockpile of recipes and ideas to get stuck into.

We did nip to the Butcher the other day.  Ended up buying in some chicken breasts (we had curry the other day), a whole chicken, chipolatas, smoked bacon and fat sausages.  Enough to keep us going this week.  I do need to go and get some veggies though as I am craving a proper roast meal (that is what I have planned for the chicken) and I quite fancied a stir fry with any leftovers.

I have not cooked for a change tonight.  OH opted for a Kentucky, so that has given me a night off which I am grateful for.  It serves a purpose, not that I eat a great deal of it in any event.

I have a fancy for a childhood meal sometime later in the week.  Whenever I used to go to my Aunt's home during the summer holidays she used to serve me kippers with a poached egg and then a slice of Honeydew melon for pudding.  I used to love going to stay with her and my Uncle and family.  Happy days.

I have not been able to settle to any crafting at all.  Just seem very distracted at the moment.  Doing nothing (even though it drives me  up the wall) is sometimes needed just to sit and be and let any angst or stress diminish. Saying that, I do have a pile of old shirts to strip down for patchwork fabric/small projects - there are quite a few of them so I may set too and do a couple of these a little later on.  It will get some more of them out of the way with.  With patchwork of any kind a lot of the work is always in the preparation. I think when you are doing patchwork it gives you time to be creative, time to be mindful, to think and produce something little by little.  I certainly find that when I am working my Hexie quilt whilst away.  That is down at the caravan at the moment so I cannot work on that. Some of the pastel colours may be used in this long-term. Most of the fabric I am going to strip down is predominantly for some scrap quilts for me to work, to get used to piecing and sewing a quilt and finishing it off.  Once all the fabric is stripped, it should give me a good selection of different colours to choose from. Any little bits of fabric left over I am going to keep as well as I think they will come in handy for working folded patchwork mats.  Waste not Want not!.  Managed to get three shirts stripped.

Another three metres of fabric to add to the recycling stack.  Was quite pleased to get three shirts prepped in about 2 1/2 hours with a poorly finger.  Hoping to get another three shirts sorted tomorrow.  If I can keep on like this I can then stash all the recycled fabric together for patchwork and small projects.  I must add that they are all extra large shirts as more fabric in them.

I should have made a bread loaf tonight; this did not happen and so will have to be popped on tomorrow.

Has anyone been watching Rick Stein's new series of Cornwall.  As usual it has been excellent and entertaining.

Right am off to chop some fabric up.

Hope you all have a lovely evening.

Catch you soon.
