Bit off Colour

I had planned to do so much today but in reality the fatigue and cold have set in and I have had to listen to the complaints from my body and give in and do very little.  Fortunately had made the soup yesterday so it did not leave us completely without something to eat and we had the remnants of the buns to dunk in the soup in any event.  I was going to make some more buns this evening but was not up to it and so I have just bunged another loaf on.  Very unusually for us we have no bread in at the moment.  Every scrap seems to be getting used up

Saying that I had one heck of a job making the soup yesterday.  I had planned to do it on the top of the cooker in a pan and then pop through a blende to finish it off.  OH suggested that we should try the steam blender again to do this despite the fact that when I had tried it last it was not playing ball.  He did an investigation on it and put in a new fuse and I was able to make the first part of the soup.  Could we get it going after that, nope.  So further investigations are going to be made when it is all cleaned up and will try again with the machine if we can get it to work.

In the meantime, I decanted the soup into the Ninja to carry on cooking the veggies and also adding the cheese.  Then I went looking for the Blender.  Could I find it nope.  I am not sure where it has got to or indeed whether I have disposed of it because it had failed.  We therefore had to have the soup chunky, when I had planned on it being smooth.  This is the first time I have cooked this myself, and it will not be the last time.  It was delicious and we had a big hefty bowl of it yesterday and today we did a repeat performance.  It was also very tasty.  I had made a couple of substitutions to the recipe.  I had no celery and so I used some diced carrot.  I did not have Stilton, but I did have the remnants of a lovely blue cheese topped up with a bit of Gorgonzola.  It was delicious, more or less vegetarian and a good recipe for using up bits and bobs of veggies and the remnants of any blue cheese.  Think Stilton would be stronger, but am pleased to have played a bit (as usual) with a new to me recipe.  As I have said will be making this again.  Himself did not mind it either.  He only ever usually touches French Onion soup or tinned Tomato soup.  I just love soup, a healthy meal that does you good and no nasties. Hopefully it will help with my energy levels a bit. We had quite a hefty bowl full yesterday and tonight.

Finished it off with a homemade rice pudding.

It has been another bright day here today but I have found it to be very cold, despite having a fleece top, a wool jumper then an outer fleece top on in the house which is keeping me warm for the best part.  It is my hands and feet that are suffering even though we have the heating on, not all the time, usually of an evening.

Hopefully will get back on track with the menu that I had planned for tomorrow. Fingers crossed and toes plaited.  Feel like a balloon that has been deflated at the moment.

Tomorrow is another day as they say.  Hopefully will be able to tackled that pastry making.

There is another loaf in the bread machine ready for tomorrow.

Catch you soon.
