Friday

 Well despite the best of intentions, not much has got done today, just a bit of a meh day after the efforts of the past two days. I had planned on it being a kitchen day.  There we are! I have washed all the bedding and got that out on the line, and dried. I love the smell of fresh clean linen, it is akin to fresh baked bread.  The scents of some things are just absolutely divine and comforting.  Bread always takes me back to my Nan cooking in her small kitchen at her Rayburn.  Particularly on a Sunday morning, when she used to bake big round baps that used to be served with Sunday night's tea.  Usually served with potted beef spread.  Because of the size of them they were served open style a couple each (i.e. one bun) but they were delicious and jelly and cream, sausage rolls some other sort of cake and one of Nan's Chocolate cakes.  Yum.

I have watered up and also rescued my plants from the next door neighbour's children who as I had suspected have been wandering into the garden.  Fortunately Mum came and sorted them out as I was worried on them tripping on the paving slabs.  When I found them my poor bean plants, were in the process of having the poles taken out of the soil.😢  Fortunately she has squared them after I explained what I was worried about.  Fingers crossed they remain intact now. Greenhouses all watered up.  Black Peppermint plants are settling in well and look quite happy.

I had hoped to get to the tip today but that has not happened either.  It has been an absolute broiler here despite there being a good breeze but that was warm.  An ideal drying day.  I do not function well in the heat though.

G has been in the little room again though and that is starting to come on well.  Still needs a good couple of coats of paint but it is starting to look very clean and quite tidy which is the effect I was looking for.  We also have a light in there again and a new light pull.  The bulb had blown.  Still quite a bit to do though as he is working it in layers and segments. The shelving is down as well and that will need sorting out.

It will be the main bathroom after that and a similar operation will ensue there in due course.  I also have new curtains and a new curtain rail to be installed as well as a few other bits and bobs that have been collected and curated over a period of time.

I am just going to potter in the kitchen for an hour or so this evening.  It looks as though we may get some showers tomorrow so it will be a kitchen day tomorrow now.

Report card for today is "Can do better"!  The story of my life.
