Thursday evening
After a lovely tea yesterday evening, I finally made it out into the garden. I was able to sort the Herb border from the weeds and watered the bed up after adding the three new mint plants I had grown from cuttings. No one is more amazed than me. I only took the cuttings at the beginning of last week and all three cuttings ended up with an extensive network of roots within that short time frame. They are now in situ in an attempt to enlarge the Black Peppermint bed, primarily for next year so that I have plenty of mint to harvest for tea next year. The plant is also doing its bit and has sent out runners of its own as well.
I also put some posts up behind the French Beans and strung twine from them to create a framework as the plants would not stay upright and so I have probably unnecessarily given them a framework to hold onto whilst they get re-established. I have a suspicion (unproved) that the young children next door have inadvertently trampled over the beans, as I have found things in the garden which are certainly not mine and most definitely theirs. They are too young to understand. I therefore thought that doing this little framework would be a deterrent for them being able to get through and support the plants at the same time.
I have also started to weed out the flagstones. They are going to be levelled out and re-laid in order that I can get the patio table and chairs on there. First of all though, I do have to get rid of some of the rubbish and I am therefore hoping to get to the tip to free some space up and then we can get cracking whilst the weather is good.
I changed my mind about working the deep border I started last night because of this. The bean plants are in the greenhouse and as they will be coming up to the edge of the patio they could end up getting trampled if they were in situ. So will wait until can get the patio sorted before dealing with this. Both the other sides have now been sorted though. I will need to create a cane framework for the beans alongside this edge of the patio slabs after I have dug and weeded that particular border. This will essentially be for the beans to grow up.
It was a lovely few hours out in the garden. There was a slight breeze which was very comfortable. After I finished I sat out in the dark for a little while just enjoying the fresh air and the peace and the quiet.
G has had another bash at the little room again and has managed to get another coat on. Still needs a couple of more coats though as it was such a deep aqua colour which is still showing through. It does look a lot better than it did though.
Today I am mostly going to be in the kitchen. I have cupboards to sort out and re-arrange the contents so that I can find things. In fairness I have decided that some things that were in the cupboard need to be located elsewhere and some things that I use a lot more are to be put in their place. Am playing shuffle board with them. I also have a load more washing to do. Taking advantage of the warmer weather for getting everything dry.
It therefore looks as though it is going to be another busy day after I have cooked breakfast. G is having a fry, and I am having a Lemon pancake for a change. I want to get the kitchen sorted by this evening if I can in readiness for the weekend.
Hopefully will catch everyone later on.
Have a lovely day wherever you are.

Sounds like the garden is really coming along. I've never heard of Black Mint before.
ReplyDeleteHello, yes it is a Black Peppermint. It looks a lot darker than a normal mint -bit chocolate brown all over the plant but it does have a lovely flavour especially for tea. I have been drying it myself and then having a couple of leaves in a mug of water with about half a teaspoon of sugar and it has been lovely and refreshing and has sorted it out. If you look online you should be able to find what it looks like. Tricia
