The Tumble Dryer is out

....of the building at long last.  That is the old washing machine and the Tumbler to be taken to the tip in the next few days along with loads of other stuff from the garden.  Operation clean-up is in full swing. Progress has been made.

My morning started early 6:00am I was awake and nodded off and woke up about 8:00am and got up. It was lovely out, birds were singing and it was relatively quiet just bird song for a change - Saturday morning makes all the difference.

Breakfast was sorted and a cuppa - have to have a cuppa first thing primarily for my meds more than anything else.

Then I started in the kitchen.  Quite a bit of progress had been made last evening, even though I did not get everything done that I had wanted too; my back was killing me  and in the end I had to cave in and just rest up.  Let us just say that I slept really well.

I then set about the small trolley which housed quite a few of bits and bobs that I use on a regular basis and all my terracotta spice pots.  They have all been washed and I need to make a list of what I have in order that I can add to them where I can.  The main reason for stripping the trolley was that the joints were coming apart and so once it was stripped G set about it; was not screws but Allen keys that were needed to tighten it.  So that is now all sorted and I am in the process of putting everything back on it.  I also need to sort out a couple of socket boards for the kitchen as I need one for near the cooker and one for the microwave and my small electric fan/rotisserie oven.  I do not get to use either the microwave or electric oven as often as I would like.  However now the nicer weather is here I quite fancy having Rotisserie chicken or homemade Kebabs with a salad for a lighter evening meal.  Hopefully G will be able to sort these out for me so that I can do this.  I don't touch electric - things have a habit of going bang!

There are always areas in kitchens where you have to have a good mop up every so often due to not being easy to get at stuff or being able to move stuff because of weight.  Today I got the oven out and gave that a really good scrub down as well as the floor where it stands.  The same has been done with the washing machine and the dishwasher and the fascia of both and their sides have also been scrubbed down. G has managed to get some paint on the upper wall behind the dishwasher carrying on from where he left off before. I just need to drag the Dehydrator down and then clean that up.  I have also washed down all the lower unit doors and polished them up.  All the lower cupboards were washed and sorted during the week so they are tidy and amazingly I can find things.

Getting the old Tumbler out was interesting, and I thought I was going to drop it, but just managed not too. We eventually  between us just about managed to get it into the front garden.  Bathroom now needs washing, tidying and painting out.  Will probably start on this on Monday.

The rest of the house looks like Armageddon though and is likely to do so until I get the bathroom sorted, and the kitchen finalised.  Then it will be time to start on the dining room.  At least with the kitchen now being clean I will be able to progress with the ironing pile from now on, which will also help clear the dining room down a little bit; there nearly always seems to be an overlap between rooms.  I still also need to organise my polythene drawer towers which house all my hand equipment and accessories as best as I can.  At the moment they are not organised just things popped away in drawers.

In a little while I will be in the kitchen again to take everything off the top of the upper units so that G can paint tomorrow.  I will wash these as well after removing the appliances.   I can then leave the appliances in the bathroom whilst G paints above the units for a first coat and possibly a second coat of paint without any difficulties.

I had hoped to get into the garden again today, but I may go in first thing tomorrow whilst G does some painting so I am not in the way. That sounds like a plan.  I have liberated the new bucket of paint for him to use.

I shall work tomorrow morning on the kitchen, but then I hope to do some sewing in the afternoon and evening.  Time off for good behaviour as it were.  I think I have earned that this week.  This coming week is going to be another busy one though and I think is going to be equally as busy as last week.  Feels good to be actually getting somewhere and seeing some results although sometimes it feels as if they are a long time coming.

Never fear I shall be back in the bedroom in-between everything else.  However it is a matter of priorities and what needs to be done first.  Smaller tidying jobs can be slipped in at any time, it is the bigger piles of stuff that need large amounts of attention.  I also need to sort out a corner in the back bedroom which has quite a few of my stamps in.  They need organising a bit better and then maybe will be able to put the big box of paper-crafting cutters and embossers on top of these boxes so that all the paper-crafting stuff is essentially together and I will be able to locate what I am after when I need it.  I have a lot of crafting stuff.

Beautiful evening here, the sort of evening to go to the Pub as the Sun is still out to play and the weather is mild at the moment. Sadly no Pub, just a load more work to do.  Showers are forecast later this evening and stormy wet weather is predicted for tomorrow at the moment.  It is what it is.

I have plenty to keep me occupied as usual; believe it or not that is something I always tend to plan for.  When I was a child I always had a book to go to or with me.  I have a big pile of books that I wish to read, however that is not happening at the moment either.  Maybe more in the winter months (although I shall try to get to one or two before then).

Toasted Cheese and Onion sarnies for tea this evening, followed by fruit, jelly and cream (Mandarin oranges).  A nice light tea which has gone down nicely.

Right last foray into the kitchen for this evening.  Then am going to sit down and put my feet up for a little while.

Have a lovely evening everyone.

Catch you soon.

  1. I am exhausted just reading this! :-) Take care with your back! I have had a day out with a friend from out of town so tomorrow I will catch up on a few household chores (but also finish a library book that is due back soon). I find that I have to pace myself a lot more now, especially for things like ironing when I'm on my feet for a lot. I'm much better at walking than just standing in place. I have a new "toy" to get to those hard to reach spots like under the fridge or cabinets with very little space between the bottom and the floor - it is a "mop" but its a long flat surface and you attach a dusting sleeve and it can clean areas that an ordinary mop or broom can't. A friend swears by it so I have bought one for myself and will give it a good workout tomorrow as the kitchen needs a good tidy. Enjoy your Sunday.
