Proposed Plans for Saturday

Today I hope is going to be a busy one, especially after the distractions of shopping yesterday.

To start with, after I have cooked a full English for G and had my Croissants, my plans for today include going to the Veg shop and getting stocked up with a fresh supply of veggies to last us the next 10 days or so. Also loads of washing and ironing. I need to carry on with the ironing pile to get rid of as much as I can especially in view of the fact that I am adding more washing and more ironing to the pile as I go along.  It will be good to get it all sorted.

Therefore not a manic day, but one where I will be working diligently along I hope, on my own in the kitchen and slowly getting sorted.  A boring one but one which needs doing.  I like my clothes to be ironed as I think they look crisper and smarter as a result.  Sometimes though when stuff has been dried in the tumble dryer there is no need to iron.  Unfortunately, this batch needs ironing. Fingers crossed and toes plaited that all goes to plan. Once everything is aired, it can then be popped back into the walk-in wardrobe, or the main wardrobes or hanging rack or indeed chest of drawers.

I actually do not really like ironing. It is the long periods of standing that do my head in,  however I always make sure that I do a "proper job" of it (as the Cornish would say) at the end of the day.  It is like a source of discipline for me to make sure I do not shirk and do it properly.  I like stuff to look nice and it gives me a lot of pleasure for stuff to look its best.  However I do see the positives as well.  Ironing rhythmically backwards and forwards is a form of "spot meditation".  You can lose yourself in the activity you are engaged in.  It also gives me time to think and sort out my often muddled thoughts and plot a path forward through the maze! That is the bonus as a result of the hard work.

The ironing will not get finished today, but a large chunk of it will have disappeared.  I just hope I have enough coathangers! I should then be able to work out my plan of attack for the dining room once the ironing pile and the washing pile have been diminished.

Weather forecast for today is "Light cloud and moderate breeze". So fingers crossed it is a good drying day.

Fingers crossed on all counts.

Catch you later.

  1. I too hate ironing, but the satisfaction of getting it done is enough to keep me going, and my mum's voice, if its a job do it well do it once.

    1. Hi Poppypatchwork, Not an ironing fan but yes it is satisfying when it is all done. Funnily enough my Mum used to say something similar. I had to do my own ironing from the age of 13! Thanks for popping by. Take care Tricia x

  2. I only iron on occasion. I used to be more concerned about it, but life changes. My afternoon will be organizing my closet. I got a new shoe rack and need to do some moving of things. Hopefully all turns out as you want it.

    1. Totally get the life changes bit, and by choice I would rather not iron, but this lot needs it and I do like my clothes to look nice at the end of the day. My wardrobes were sorted the other week, but there is a load more stuff to go in now. Fingers crossed will get it squished in. Take care Tricia xx

  3. I used to enjoy ironing more as I too found it to be meditative. However, I now find standing for too long much more difficult so I tend to do it in batches. Managed 4 loads of laundry today - 3 just had to be folded and put away but the 4th needs to be ironed. I've done one bit already but will probably leave the rest until tomorrow.
