Saturday Roundup

Today would have been my Nan's birthday.  It was my Dad's yesterday.  Miss both of them.

Well a failure in that I did not get to start the ironing when I wanted to. I am hoping that I get to do a little bit early evening or at least a start-up otherwise will start this tomorrow.

However there were also a few successes as well.  I did start the washing - cleaned the machine first off and now have started with short refreshing washes for the lighter items.  I also re-visited the Pantry today and gave it a thorough bottom out and got things a bit more organised. It does need another top up especially on the tinned stuff. G came back with a sack of potatoes and a large net of onions and two cabbages. As I do not keep both of these in the safe place as the onions give off a gas that reduces the storage life of the potatoes I keep these under the stairs where it is cooler. Cabbages are kept in the fridge.  I have the fridge to sort out yet and so may end up doing this tonight instead of the ironing.  I am not prevaricating this time just priorities.

I have done today's washing up already, there will be more later on after tea whatever that is - cannot decide at the moment.  Will probably consist of pate, pork pie, cheese and biscuits or something along those lines which is quick and simple.  We have eaten well for the past few days in any event and I do not want very much to eat. In the end I made some Sausage Rolls and served them hot, with Ham and Pork pie and cheese went down very nicely.  Made a much lighter tea/supper.

I am hoping in the next few days or so to also get some food preparation done and into the fridge in order that I can concentrate on sorting things out.  I have not made any more bread yet i,e. the crispy buns or the Cinnamon Buns that may happen tomorrow first thing though.  Think will be having the Barnsley chops for dinner tomorrow, served with fresh mint sauce the mint is growing in the garden, some fresh veggies and maybe a pudding or even a cake.  Will see how the Muse takes me tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a lovely evening.

Catch you soon.

    1. Hi Chris, my partner does not know one end of an iron from the other. If I let him loose I wouldn't have any clothes left! I try and keep myself busy, but sometimes it gets too much. Self inflicted a lot of it, but there we are tiz only the depth that varies. Thanks for popping by. Tricia x

  2. Along with the laundry and ironing that I mentioned in your last post I managed to make a quiche, and make a mix of potato, sweet potato & carrot mash. Took some ham steaks ouy of the freezer and added some green veg - made a meal today and will have the same tomorrow. Had to stay in this morning as my A/C unit was being installed so I will stop off at the grocery store on my way home from church tomorrow to stock up on mostly some dairy and some salad greens. I will have to take note of what else might be needed before the end of the week as our transit union is threatening a strike on Friday and I don't drive - always something...
