Monday Aspirations

I would ideally like to get out and about and forage.  That is weather dependent and it looks as though some rain is forecast for the next couple of days. However Wednesday is bright again. However on a practical basis that may not be open to me to do.  Will see what happens.

Realistically I have a load more washing to do and I need to start the ironing. Even if I cannot get to the washing I can get stuck in on the ironing and start some clearing.  It is Monday after all and maybe today should be just a day where I just get stuck in and set too with that big heap of ironing instead of allowing it to sit and stare at me and taunt me.  I really want it out of the way with so that I can then start working on tidying in the back room.

Also realistically need to look and see what flooring is available for the bathroom.  It is stuck in the back of the car at the moment.  If there is not enough, will get G to put it down in the Pantry. I have needed new flooring for the Pantry now for quite some while. It is not a big space, but it needs sorting.  Also the under-stairs cupboard also needs new flooring.  It may be that there will be enough to do both these small spaces. It would tidy them up an awful lot.  That way it will free the car up.

We do need to pay a visit to the tip at some point. I also have the garden to tackle - not ready for that yet although am hoping to get out there and start.  I want the garden sorted, weeded and dug and covered up within the next six weeks or so.  I want the garden ready to go early on next year.

I think perhaps in retrospect because of that it will be better for me to concentrate on some ironing today after all.  Everything seems to flow into something else down the line, no matter what jobs are planned.

There are a lot of outline plans for the future.  The bathroom needs decorating in any event.  The flooring may have to wait until the end of this new month before we are in a position to deal with this and get it sorted.

The kitchen for the best part is done.  It could really do with some more paint - which has always been anticipated, but it looks clean and tidy.  G has more or less sorted the light.  I do need a socket board fixing for the Microwave and Electric cooker.  So might ask him to look at that today as well. Then I should be able to use either the Microwave or the Electric cooker with the Rotisserie more easily. We need new flooring in the kitchen as well. That will be some way off though.  Just doing what we can, where we can without it costing an arm and a leg and making it clean and livable.

Knowing how things go here, its possible that none of the above will not happen at all and something else will take priority.  These are the hopes for today though.

Will catch up later on.

  1. Well it sounds as though the kitchen is pretty set after all your hard work - mine still needs a good clean although I did manage to tidy both the fridge and freezer. Cupboard doors and the floor will be scrubbed later in the week.
I actually got out today - first time since last Thursday. This respiratory bug is still not completely vanquished but decided that I needed some fresh air (but I did wear a mask when around others). Got the garbage & recycling out and dropped off the rent cheque at the same time (everything else gets paid online on the first of the month so all done). Then I decided on a 20 minute subway ride to the centre of town as I knew that a couple of the fancier grocery stores would be open (it is Labour Day weekend here so all the local shops are shut). Couldn't carry a lot but wanted to pick up a few treats and easy foods that would see me through this week. Still don't have much of an appetite and not interested in cooking but know that I need some small meals just to get my strength back. I have a great pantry but this has shown me where there are a few gaps when illness hits. Now I'm all set for the rest of this week.
I needed to rest for about half an hour when I got in - with some tea and tea sandwiches and then I managed to get two loads of laundry done. It was very quiet in the laundry room so I'm glad that I persevered and got this done. Any ironing will keep until tomorrow.
While no furniture was moved or heavy duty cleaning done - at least I can say that I've managed a fair number of small jobs so the past few days haven't been a complete loss and sometimes that's all we can hope for. Hope the weather stays good for some foraging tomorrow.
