New Scales

It has been another cold day here, although first thing was brighter and saw a little sun.  It has however gone on to disappear and go to this eternal grey skies we seem to be suffering at the moment and it is blooming cold.  I had to go out earlier on to deal with some administrative matters, and I wished I hadn't.  I had gone out well wrapped up but Brghhh my was it chilly. I tend to hibernate during the winter months. Whilst I was out a parcel was delivered, but it is something I have been waiting for and I unwrapped and then got the scales scoop bracket attached with a couple of screws.

I have had to invest in a new set of scales and so have opted for these.  Bought off Ebay as I needed a set in a hurry as I have a lot of processing coming up in the next few ways.  Think they were about £16.  I noticed that there are a couple of sizes available which can affect the price between traders the ones I have opted for are 5kg maximum weight which is needed for all the preserving I tend to do.

Just hope they hold up to all the wear and tear.  Saying that I had had the previous set for some 12 years or so.  I do have a set of digital scales which are good for small amounts and for weighing from scratch with a bowl on top, but the larger amounts I need heavy duty scales for.  So we will see how we get on with these.

Now to get a wriggle on with some of the preserving.  Loads to do as usual seems to be a never ending list.  I like it that way for the best part it is just every so often  you need to come up for air.

Need to start off with something simple like some pickled cabbage then will gravitate towards Marmalade.

Marmalade here we come though as I have a few recipes to make as well as some Lemon and Orange Curd.

Will see how things go and then expand on the theme a little bit.  It looks as though it will be a kitchen day tomorrow.  It is very much needed though.  I need to do some clearing of the fridge in readiness for having a top up from the shop.

Tonight we are having Cornish Pasties for tea.   Very much looking forward to this.

Hopefully I will be able to settle to a little embroidery this evening.  That is the plan in any event.
