Getting back to the crafting
I am taking this slowly as I very much want to get to grips with all my crafting projects again and I do not want to start off and then leave open-ended. I therefore intend to work quietly in the background, hopefully a day at a time on something that is either in the pile or interspersed with new projects. Well that is the plan, so by the time you see this post, hopefully this project will be completed and that I will be progressing well on something else.
The First Project a New Project
Day One
Yesterday Sunday 16th January 2025, I managed to get started on a new project. About four years ago my step-daughter bought me a Joules mixed-embroidery pre-printed panel to embroidery and it has been looking at me ever since. I loved it and it has been one of the projects that I have been keen to get started on. Yesterday I made that start. The embroidery is a lot finer in places than anticipated and I certainly need my magnifier but it is helping an awful lot and so far I have worked the blue flowers on one of the stems and have to go back to working the stem in stem stitch and also finishing off the flowers with little accents in pink before that particular section of the picture will be completed. The centre of the design is embroidered in white chain stitch and just says "Blooming Beautiful". An uplifting phrase, but one to make you open your eyes and appreciate that which is around you. Once it is completed I am hoping to put it into the computer room to start with near my desk as a constant reminder of just how "Blooming Beautiful" everything is especially during the grey days of winter when it is important to surround yourself where you can with beautiful things. Lots of colour always brightens things up.
A picture of the slow progress and slow progress it is
Day Two
I have started to work the stem stitch (for the stems) just under the blue flowers I embroidered the other day. Very fiddly as the actual image is not very big at all. Am trying to make it as look as neat as I can. Have also started working the first leaf section as well. I am looking forward to be able to finish this off and then get it up on the wall. It is taking a little longer than I had first thought, but I think that is probably down to the fact that I have perhaps spent four hours in total working this little bit, rather than a longer time period that I usually do. I am also getting used to working with the little magnifying lamp which is helping an awful lot.
Day Three
I have sat and worked the accent pieces on the dark blue flowers today; little fiddly bits that just help accentuate the design that little bit more. Fiddlier work than I am used to, but I am determined to do it properly. It is lovely to be doing some hand-embroidery again. Even though it is embellishing a pre-printed panel it will help me get back into the swing of things again and remember how to do the stitches!
For the past couple of days i.e. Thursday and Friday, I have not been able to get to the embroidery for one reason or another. I intend to carry on with this, and there is especially a hot date on Saturday and Sunday this week, probably starting in the early afternoon on both days as I am keen to progress with the work.
I have also in real life ordered another four kits (I will never go to heaven) which will need working in due course. The kits very much reflect the vibe I am going for, not complicated but simple in style and subject which will be worked by me in my own unique way. I do have other work to do as well, one of which I am waiting for a delivery of wool for, to start work to completion/actually finishing, depends how the wool works out. More on that in another post though.
A Slight Change in Direction
In the end once the wool arrived and bearing in mind how much time I had and which was the more productive item to get out of the way with, I stopped to do the UFO crochet throw/blanket in white, grey and turquoise. Although I may well go between the two projects just to give a little change to the medium I am working. The embroidery needs more concerted eye work!
I shall therefore carry on the good work over this coming weekend as I have decided I need a bigger tranche of time for the embroidery as compared to the crochet.
I have also received some new embroidery pieces to work in the future and shall pop up a dedicated post about that in due course.
What are you working on at the moment. Would love to hear.
Catch you soon,
Pattypan
