What a Wet and Windy Day

Definitely a day to stay in.  Very windy and rain most of the day.  A day to keep to the house.

I am pleased to say that the Washing machine has been going and working properly, which I am very pleased about.  I get like a Bear with a sore head when it doesn't.

I have started in the Study/Craft Room/Computer Room.  Have managed to get a lot of sorting out done today.  I came across a stash of embroidery patterns I sent for and so I have bagged them up individually. I have a bag where I put new projects and tend to keep them all together and reasonably accessible as it tends to be things that will go with other things and it is just easier to access them together at the moment.  Besides we are getting our traditional autumn weather at the moment and I therefore have projects to grab.

I have given both of my sewing machines a good wipe down and got them ready for use.  I have found one of the cables to the ordinary sewing machine.  I need to locate the foot pedal and then I can start sewing. Lots of simple projects to start with and I want to finish off some items already part-started and also do a machine patchwork.  I have a lot of kits, and it would be good to make inroads into those as well. I also have to locate the cables for my embroidery machine as well.  I have a new socket board for the Craft Room and my machines, so as long as I can find the missing items I do not think it will be too long before I can start to play.  Just in time for the cooler weather.  I have the machines there I might as well get stuck in with them.  I have made my mind up that if G goes Winter fishing then I shall use that time for sewing whilst he is out of the way.

I have also found a collection of missing seeds bought earlier in the year.  I knew I had them but putting my hands on them was another matter.  They have now been put with the seed boxes.

My large embroidery lamp given to me by my late sister-in-law needs a new plug.  I have bought a plug and G is going to put that on for me. I do not do Electrics.

I do need an upside down kneeling stool one you sit at an angle on and put your knees on a bottom step.  They are very good for your back - I had one but it ended up getting wrecked.  I therefore do need to source another one of those.  Then I can really set too with the embroidery.  Only little things but they are getting sorted.

Found some photographs and have popped them with the other ones out of the way for the time being.

Have sorted out several craft bags and they are now back in the back room.  I shall start on some of those soon.

I also located my pinking shears and a couple of more pictures that need restoring, one with a broken glass and that is going to take some cleaning.  Years ago the way needlework was framed was using little tacks.  With time these have rusted, so they are going to take some cleaning like the other ones recently done.  I shall probably just frame them flat as they are bearing in mind there is minimal surround material for stringing.

The second one is a little garden scene.  This piece has been strung, and I will probably unstring it, wash it and then sew a fray edge all the way around with the sewing machine.  Then re-string and re-frame.  The glass got broken on this piece as well.  There will therefore be another couple of projects for the restoration list.  I have been doing smaller bits to the other pieces but nothing substantial. I think it will be a case of several pieces will end up being completed near enough together the way things are going at the moment. However another post will be up shortly.

Tomorrow, I have an appointment for my Covid Jab and also the Flu Jab.  I have to have both, so it will be one in each arm.  It will be good to get these out of the way with at least I am lucky enough to be offered them.  For that I am very grateful.

Then it will be back to the Study/Craft Room/Computer Room to carry on where I left off.  Things are taking a lot longer as usual, however am having to sort everything out in order that it can be found and for me to know what I am dealing with.

I also a while back put aside some magazines with charts in for future projects.  They have been put in a stack so I can also find them easily when I need to.

Sunday will be a kitchen day.  We are having a proper Sunday lunch this week, bearing in mind all the colder wetter weather we have been experiencing.

Monday is the day I will start the decorating.  Now I am no longer under-pressure to get things done for the Electrician I can work on items until they are done.  I have a lot of preparation work to complete before the actual decorating can be done.  It will be a job well done though when I get everything accomplished.

Take care wherever you are.

Catch you soon.

  1. Lots of crafts to be getting on with then. I am doing the binding on the Baltimore quilt, which I am going to take to NZ as a thank you gift to my friend out there. When my sewing machine is being moved anywhere (patchwork class), I put the cables and footpedal inside and put the cover on so it's ready to use. It has its own designated desk though at home, and stays plugged in and ready to use.

    1. Hi BB, yes always plenty to do. Do not do bored and the best way to keep me amused/occupied when funds are low is to tackle some embroidery or crafting of some sort or another. I buy every so often so I always have something in abeyance. Now that the winter months are upon us, I am keen to be able to do more crafting as I go along. Another reason for trying to get organised in the house. The reason my cables have gone missing is that I took both machines to a workshop and because the cables could have fallen out I popped them into the bag with my work. Of course it is the bag with the work in that has gone missing. I am pretty sure it is in the front bedroom, but as I have everywhere else up at the moment, I just do not have the space to tackle the front room. Both machines have their own desk too as I will not let G anywhere near them. He is still not forgiven for using my good dressmaking shears on cardboard! What I am trying to do at the moment is get some projects finished off whether that is UFOs, such as my crochet bedspread which I am working at in the background or trying to repair vintage pictures which have lost the glass or the frames have been damaged. A lot of them are from the 1930s moving forwards. The older ones were tacked/small nails through the embroidered fabric rather than strung and they have gone rusty, and some of them are stained underneath the mounts. So a lot of gentle cleaning going on as well. Only little things however getting them gradually out of the way with. I am also going to be sending for some packing boxes in order that I can pack stuff away and mark boxes up. Also if anymore bits of a collection are found, then they can be added into the requisite box. There is a lot to do but I am determined to do it. Thank you for your hug the other day. You were right and it is appreciated. Hugs Tricia xx
