Just a few of the Christmas Decorations Part One

.... found recently, although strictly speaking some of the items fall into lighting category and storage rather than strictly just decorations and then there are the crafting items.  All beautiful items in their own right with the materials waiting to be turned into something special. I shall never go to heaven when it comes to gathering things together to craft.

Due to real life events, this post has necessarily been posted out of sequence, to that which was planned.  There is a degree of overlap therefore between the posts for which I apologise.

A few of my favourite finds come from TK Maxx.   These ones not necessarily decorations which consist of storage boxes, specifically Laura Ashley and Peppermint & Pine.  When I initially went into TK Maxx on my first visit, I found three different sized Laura Ashley boxes but chose only to buy in the larger box.  Then came home and kicked myself as I realised I liked them a lot.  I subsequently went back for a second visit and they were gone.

On the second trip though, I did however find another couple of boxes by Peppermint & Pine which I also liked.  These came home with me.  Just two boxes, but ideal for storing some of my Christmas decorations in and then for popping under the Christmas tree.

Subsequently after coming home from the second trip, I then went onto the TK Maxx website and managed to find and order the two missing Laura Ashley boxes and I am waiting for them to be delivered.  (These have now been delivered and I am extremely pleased with them).

As an aside in the past (and now present) I have found some very lovely Christmas chests and a Christmas suitcase from TK Maxx.  My Bathroom "Treasure Chest" and also my "Christmas Chest" also come from here.

On my second trip to TK Maxx, I also found and purchased a beautiful pottery candle in the shape of a pair of skates scented with Cinnamon.  After the candle has been used up will still be able to use it as a free-standing ornament as the "blades" on the candle are done in such a way that the ornament/candle will stand freely on its own.  It is ceramic and very well balanced.  I am very pleased with this, despite the fact that it cost me £14.99. The scent of the Cinnamon though is nicely balanced  and does not knock you for six like some of the candles do.

I also came home from TK Maxx with some paper napkins.  Some are destined for the table.  However, I intend to have a go at some decoupage on some older candles that I have, the surface of which has got a bit damaged over the years.  I thought that this might make them usable and pretty them up a little bit.  I have never done this before and so it will be a learning curve.  The napkins were £1.99 per packet.

I also bought this light up Star ornament.  I think it is going to go in one of the windows.  Maybe the dining room window.  Will see how things pan out.

The last of the TK Maxx buys were a couple of "Kissing Balls"!  These are destined for the dining room as well.

Poundland Finds

I bought in a couple of bags of fir cones for homemade decorations.

A couple of boxes of white berry battery lights also planned to go into the dining room on some of my existing garlands.

I managed to buy in three Santa Mugs at £2 each.  I would have had another three but at the time these were bought, there were no more in stock.  Will check again another day.

Some flower candles.

M & S Finds

This beautiful Santa Mug at £6 each.  I now have four of these.  I am hoping to get a few more yet.

George at Asda finds

Mistletoe candle holders.  Very simple and very nice will look beautiful on the table.  There were two varieties one an upright stem version and the other like a small bowl.

Very pleased with these.

Home Bargains finds

I bought two of these large Hurricane Lamps, which have a wooden base board.  They are quite chunky and plain but can be decorated up in different ways depending very much on the occasion.  These lamps I intend to use year round. I just have to buy the large 3 wick candles. I also bought two vine wreaths to go on the outside of the base of the lamp, to decorate up with some foliage sprigs in due course.  They were on offer for £5 each.

This is a smaller Hurricane Lamp which is already decorated and is determining the theme I am going for in the dining room this Christmas.  I bought two of these too.

Not the best photo but two medium sized Candle Christmas trees also for the Dining room.

B & M Finds

Since then at home, I found some simple, plain but homemade decorations I had started a little while back and which had got put away never to be seen again. They do not need much to finish them off and so I am hoping to tackle them this coming weekend perhaps when I am sat down listening to the TV. It would be nice to get them finished and into the Christmas decorations bag. I have popped them into my craft supplies bag (well the recent one from Hobbycraft) for easy access. Just something homemade to make my tree that little bit different.

I intend to put a few beads on some of these, ribbon on others, and jingle bells as well as tidy up or add the hangers.  Everything that has been purchased goes well with existing decorations in my stash, and just help give a little more versality and variance with how they are used

I do need to get some tree hooks though.

Hoping to find a couple of more items (apart from homemade ones) and that will be it for this year.

Have a lovely evening everyone.

Catch you soon.
