What a horrible wet day

It has been horrible weather wise here today, like so many other places over the British Isles.  However, the rain is very much needed as although we have had a lot of wet weather recently, still more rain is required to fill the lakes, rivers and reservoirs up.  G goes fishing on a regular basis and the lakes where he fishes, are about 18 inches down on what they normally are.

I have been in the house most of the day, wading through the washing and the drying.  Slowly getting through it, and getting ironed and put up on hangers, aired before putting away.  All work that needs doing.

G is fishing again this Sunday and next Tuesday.

I had hoped to go shopping this Sunday, however that will now be Tuesday.  Instead I will get stuck in on outstanding jobs in the house.

My Laura Ashley boxes have arrived and I am very pleased with them.

These boxes are going to be so useful; they are so spacious and very good value for the money.  Will be ideal for storing my nice tableware and associated items in, and one day I will have that Armoire cabinet that I keep dreaming of for them to go into.  I have a lot of tablecloths, tableware and associated items.  Some of it has been collected or bought second hand, some of it has been gifted and some has come down through inheritance.  It is always good to set the table properly and make it look really nice.  I must stress that many of the items that I do have, have been collected over the last 45 to 50 years and the collection has been developed gradually a little at a time.  I am very lucky in this respect.

As I may have mentioned in a recent post in passing, I am looking to make some Christmas tree quilts of my own in due course.  I have done a little research and have found a couple of patterns that I am interested in, which have smaller projects to work in the first instance in order that I can familiarise myself with the pattern.   Some of them have cushions to work first. I have been looking at fabrics as well.  The patterns I have been looking at are worked in squares and that will make it easier for me for working in due course.  Now to source the fabrics.

For supper this evening we had Lemon pancakes and they went down an absolute treat.

Have a lovely evening everyone.

Catch you soon.

  1. Lots of rain here too. My husband asked if we still have a hosepipe ban in place. I assume so, as I have never heard that it has been lifted. With what you say about reservoirs still being low it is probably a good idea to keep it for the time being. At the rate it has been raining the last few days they should be full up again before long though.
