Small steps but in the right direction
This week has not gone totally to plan, but at least a little bit has been done and I have been focusing more on priorities than any one individual thing. In reality I have often found that starting or doing something often leads to me being side-tracked as something else has to be done before can finish what I had started.
Wednesday
Fridge
Fridge cleaning day today, in anticipation of next week's planned food shopping. The fridge needed a good "bottoming out" and is part of my regular cleaning schedule, however it is also Spring and part of my planned "Spring Clean" to make sure everything is clean, aired out and ready for the new season. Well I did not quite hang the fridge on the clothes line, but hope you catch my drift. Managed to get the bulk of the cleaning done, just the bottom part of the fridge to strip and clean out and then the fridge is all ready for topping up next week. I shall finish the fridge on Thursday.
A Little Shopping
The Pantry is on the list to do as well. We had nipped out to get some bacon and black pudding which G had run out of. He did not take me shopping the other day - just disappeared as otherwise would have told him both were needed. Came home with another fresh Chicken and some Stewing steak and am going to have a re-arrange in the freezer a bit later to see if I can get it all in. Meat is currently in the fridge chilling. The anticipated Jam making sessions will clear a lot of space out - which no doubt will fill in due course.
However tonight for tea, and being that it has been a bright sunny day although a little chilly, is going to be some Salt Beef buns. G went to the Baker again and came back with some crusty buns and some long burger buns to go with the refill of some jumbo sized Hot Dogs that have just re-stocked up on. The jars are going to be very useful from these too. This will be the fourth jar. I am collecting them in order to preserve some homemade soups for the Pantry shelf. I do not waste resources intentionally. We may have them for tea either Thursday or Friday night.
Dressers
Before I tackle the Pantry though, I will be sorting out the Dressers in the Dining Room. These need a good clean down and polish. I also want to sort out the storage on the Dressers re-organise them and re-fill where necessary. It is also time that the second Dresser is put to a more practical use for storing dried items etc. as I have no room on the first Dresser or indeed in the Pantry. All this needs completing before I go into the Pantry as there are some items that are in there that need to go into jars. I also have plans to obtain some more storage jars to go on them.
Thursday
An awful day weather-wise with lots of wind and rain and it has been chillier.
Rubbish was sorted to take to the tip. We had made the necessary changes with the Council regarding car registration in order that we could attend the other day. As the wind started to get stronger than it had been earlier on, the car has been loaded but the actual trip will take place tomorrow.
It has been a pottering day, I finished cleaning the fridge. That is now all ready to be filled up again.
I did some washing. I have also got my old coat washed. The instructions were no soap powder and only a low wash. However the coat looked marked when dry so have bunged it back in, having rubbed some Fairy liquid into it on the worst parts. I am hopeful that this will have cleaned it up a bit. You cannot tumble dry it and so it will be dried on a coat hanger in the house.
G is supposedly going fishing from early morning to about the middle of the afternoon on Sunday. I suggested that it would do him good to go and be with his fishing mates for a little while and actually get out of the house for a change. I have plans to go into the front bedroom then and do a bit of sorting out whilst he is gone. I have a suspicion that my sewing machine foot pedal and cables are in there for both machines. Before going and buying a new foot pedal and cable, I want to have one good search to see if I can locate it. In reality I do have an awful lot of sewing to accomplish and get out of the way with as well as explore some new crafting projects.
Then got the Dishwasher going.
Got some tidying done in the kitchen as well. Still a way to go though. Will keep plodding on tomorrow.
Friday
After a very windy and wet night, there is Sunshine out and about and the wind has calmed to what it was. I have continued to carry on with some of the smaller items in the hope that bit by bit I can achieve more than rushing in like "a bull in the China shop". There is a lot to do. Got to keep at it.
Saturday
More washing and drying achieved. Has been another chilly day although the Sun came out to play.
G has been getting ready for his fishing tomorrow and has taken all of his tackle out of the dining room. Once the Kitchen is complete I can then start tackling the dining room.
I have come across a new to me series on You Tube of Marcus Wearing in Provence France. Only found it last night and am slowly working my way through the episodes. Some lovely ideas on the food front. Provence is one of the places that I would love to visit one day.
Outline Plans for Sunday
However, as I mentioned above whilst G is fishing I am going into the front bedroom for a bit of a sort out whilst he is out of the way. This needs doing and I am hopeful of being able to find the items I am looking for. I have a big picture, a big mirror and a large carved picture frame with a sun faded print in it, which I bought ostensibly for my Sampler once it has been completed. They need bubble wrapping and placed where they will not get damaged. Probably on top of one of the wardrobes. There is also the large freestanding Candleabra that I bought last year which needs a good clean down and then bubble wrapping. There are also Christmas decorations bought last year which need to go into dedicated storage as well so that I can find everything when I need it. I tend to store all the Christmas decorations in one particular area of the back bedroom. My aim is to get everything where I can find it easily and bring out when I want to use it. As part of this I also have a lot of vintage glassware in the shape of vases, cake stands, fruit bowls, punch bowls, Decanters etc that also need bubble wrapping and storing safely. There are also a lot of items in the dining room that need packaging away as well as I am going to be utilising the Dressers for different types of food storage, whereas at the moment one of the Dressers has several vintage crockery pieces and nice items. I also have two x 3 tier green ivy cake stands to find storage for as well. Both of these have been on the Dresser for sometime. Will see how I get along, but some tidying needs to be done in the front bedroom in any event.
Well I hope everyone has had a good week, here is to life, love and making memories.
Catch you soon.
