Supposed to be cooler... Negatives and finding alternatives to work on

I still think it is terribly hot; too hot for me, but it is nearly always the humidity that comes with it a lot of the time or in the winter months the rain and damp which manages to seize me up.  That is what has happened in the last week when I was intent on doing all sorts of things.  Pivot it is then.  Not sure I like the term "pivot" but it is apt.

I am having to do a bit of sorting in the back bedroom before I can get on with anything else.  There are items downstairs which need to come up.  Some box organising and tidying is also going on.  Things need to be sorted and organised - which for the best part they are, there are just pockets which are not and some boxes are not stacked as they should be.  More on this will be included in my next installment progress update of work that has been achieved moving forward.

For now though, in this precise moment in time, which we live through and which we cannot grasp, as it is like quicksilver slipping through the fingers so quickly but ultimately turns into beautiful individual and sometimes very special memories; I have to be present in the moment more and not off with the Fei! I do tend to clock off from time to time.  It is now Time to wind the clock back and start to get through things as I can.

I am having to do things out of sequence which is also throwing me. It is to some part dealing with my demons, and me trying to improve me in the longer term.  I have always been a creature of nature and prefer where I can to follow a project through from start to finish.  Hiccups therefore happen and are there for a reason in the longer term. I am therefore quietly getting stuck in on one or two other projects in the background.  More on them in due time though, as I am hardly making in-roads at the moment, but more items are being re-found.

As part of my rootling around, I also found a folder of old black and white negatives from when I was a little girl. There are some photos of me as a Bridesmaid and of my brother as Page Boy in a kilt complete with Sporran.  My Dad's hobby was photography and he used to take the pictures then process them and print them out in his own Dark Room.  Then he went on to Cine film and then video film and latterly DVD.  I have recently come into possession of the Cine films he took which go back to my teens and younger for my brother.  And as I seem to have an awful lot of photographs in negatives, printed photos for which I have no negatives, Cine film, many old original photos I am considering trying to get these sorted where I can and to get them on disc to pass on to future generations as well as have hard prints of photos for albums.  This is going to be a project to be started in the Winter months and I think it is going to cost me, it is something important to me and therefore I want to start slowly and ease it out a bit at a time.  Let things develop as they say.

My current thinking is to start with the really older family photographs that I have going back to my Great Granddad and Great Grandmother, when my Granddad (Pop) was a young man and all his siblings and a photo of them all as youngsters celebrating my Great Grandparents' 25th Wedding Anniversary.  For that Anniversary they were presented with a Spirit Egg-Warmer which was engraved. Do not think it is Silver, but Silver plate.  I never remembered seeing this as a child, at all.  During the process of my Nan's home being cleared Dad found it in the back of her Pantry (of all the places to store it) that was my Nan though.  It needs re-assembling - I think I have all the pieces it would be nice to get this re-assembled in due course if I can.  Another project.

Sorry I have become distracted.  Stories in my family have always been important - it is a different form of inheritance.

There are a lot of photos where I do not have a clue about who the people are.  They may or may not be relatives and I am hoping that my cousin may be able to help with some of them.  My older cousin is keen to have photos where he can as is my brother.  This is another reason I am doing work in the back room so that I can locate some of the photo albums and other pictures which I know are in there,  Then at least I will have a place to start.

Coupled with that, I am researching my Family tree and have been doing so for quite a few years now.  Once I get the photos sorted, then I can meld the two projects together.  That is the hope in any event.  It is important that what I do know is passed on to those in the families who never met certain relatives and to who I want to pass on an essence of very special personalities. There are lots of stories that have been passed on by word of mouth.  It would be good to get them down on paper.

I am aiming to collate all the evidence together and then to start wading through and getting the individual pieces into some kind of order, getting them hard copied and then onto disc and then into Albums before distributing to other family members. There are at least three sets of family photographs that I have ended up with. The more perishable item is the family movies though and I am going to do some research as to what can be done and whether it is viable for the material I have to deal with. It may not be in good enough condition. I think the Dark Winter evenings will be ideal for dealing with this.

There are of course lots of things going on in the house as well.  It would not be me if I hadn't.  More on those later on.  It is just the depth that varies.  However, I cannot bear to be bored either.  Now to gradually get the photos pulled together in order that they are organised before I start.

Wishing every one finds their peace.

Catch you soon.
