2011.10.01 2011 My Day

Its hard to believe it is now October!  It has been a very warm day here in Peterborough.  Too darn hot!  I didn't have a lie in this morning I woke at normal time and Sqeak and Missy were anxious to go out, so up I got, pottered around on the computer for a while made us a cup of tea and then I nipped round to the Charity shop to pick up the crotchet tablecloth that I found last week and which I had put up.  I also found something else whilst I was in there and I have bought them home too.  I have prepared a separate post in relation to this which will be posted in the next few days. We then went for a walk (a separate post covers this) and whilst out I picked up probably the last of the elderberries to make some elderberry and apple jelly.  Tomorrow I hope to get some more teasels and also see if OH will get me the horseradish root I am after. Today has been a day full of blessings; I have been paid  (I am one of the lucky ones) - I got through...

Simple Pleasures

Image
There is nothing so heartwarming as being given an unexpected gift, especially when that something has been grown by your own fair hands. I received these today from my Italian Friend Agostino (Ag for short).  They are plum tomatoes, he says that they are very sweet and that he has been busy putting the tomatoes up and bottling them. I think Agostino must be in his late eighties,, but he still keeps fit by seeing to his allotment and bringing on turkeys for Christmas.  He was widowed not so long back and the allotment is a way of life to him he goes twice a day.  So it was a double blessing, seeing my friend and the gift of the tomatoes. Its the simple things that mean a lot and speak many words without making a sound. Pattypan xx

Saturday Morning Walk

Image
I thought that you might like to see where I go for a walk on a Saturday with Missy and OH.  We live just off the centre of town, and these hidden spaces not everyone realises are there. This is just one of the routes that we take. I will let the pictures speak for themselves. There are loads more will post more photos later on Pattypan x

Crochet Table Cloth

I paid a visit to my Charity Shop last Saturday and found a beautiful cream hand-crotched tablecloth that someone had obviously put a lot of work and effort in.  Not having the pennies on me at the time I asked the Manageress if she could put it up for me and she agreed to do so, so today I have collected this little beauty that is worked in filet crotchet.  I am so chuffed and it will get a lot of love and use.  How much well how much do you think I paid?  Let me know and then later I will reveal how much I actually spent.  I think it is a beauty and am well chuffed as I appreciate beautiful needlework and the time and effort that has gone into "making something".. I always get lost with filet crotchet patterns but now I have this one to hand I may well try and reproduce it from the one I have to hand.  (That may well be a project for the future though bearing in mind what I have on at the moment) I love the elegance of the filet crotchet patterns - and ...

WellI think he is making himself at home

Dimitri seems to be settling in well even coming to the whistle now like Squeak does  - he is learning the ropes and is coming in at night - he no longer is stopping out and seems to be content to snuggle in his blanket, be warm get constant fuss (he is getting this human well trained) and he likes his water fresh and running and when he is thirsty gets up on the bathroom sink and wows at you until you run the tap.  He then drinks his fill and once his thirst is quenched he settles down for some serious snoozing.  Think these photos show that he is getting comfortable. It looks as though Squeak has taught him well. Catch you all tomorrow Sleep tight Pattypan xx
