Friday catch up

Well that's the first few days back to work out the way - next week is going to seem a long old week as I have the first full week since the November back at work.   After my earlier post which was predominantly drafted on Wednesday evening today just got better and better;  the sun came out and really cheered everyone up at work we were even having a laugh and joke. There was a stunning sunset as well; I do love beautiful pictures and the colourings were so vibrant with the sun set tonight it is very uplifting.  Surprising what a bit of sunshine does.   I have also got some evenings out to look forward to in the next few weeks and I do like to go out especially when it involves being with really good friends; friends where you don't have to explain yourself who love you just as you are warts n all friends as I call them.   I have a discussion group to go to on Monday which will be the first get together for the New Year On Tuesday...

A Welcome, Animals and the January blues

Welcome to Jay of My Family and Other Cricketers http://myfamilyandothercricketers.blogspot.co.uk/  Make yourself comfortable grab that mug of tea and have a good mosey round I hope you find something that takes your interest. Its dark here in Peterborough; the moon was still in the sky when I let Demetri out for his morning wander into the darkness and stillness prevalent at this time of year.  He was a little unsure this morning preferring to hog my company before finally deciding that he wanted out.  Whether he comes back again before I leave the building will be another matter but he will be out all day otherwise.  Yesterday he came home and spent the day asleep with the others before I left. I had just got the door shut and was making tea for myself and our dog Missy (Jack Russell) [she loves a cup of tea in the morning] when Squeak started squawking she wanted out also.  All of my animals past and present have always been extremely vocal and a...

Check List for Saturday

I have a few things I want to do on Saturday that I have been putting off although I have kept the fruits etc in the fridge so they have kept pretty well.  They consist of the following: Cranberry and Apple Jelly. Lemon Curd Orange Curd Grapefruit Curd Grapefruit Cordial/Syrup Mandarin/Clementine Syrup Sweet Chilli Sauce Sweet Ginger Sauce Pickled Red Cabbage Souper Paste 2 batches of Orange Wine 2 batches of Lemon Wine That will do for starters but I am also looking for Seville Oranges.  I have about 5 bottles of Rose Wine put up - I just need to get some Vodka and then I will be able to put up some Vin d'Orange  up in readiness for Christmas next year. I also need more Seville Oranges as I have recipes for Seville Orange Curd, Seville Orange Liqueur, Marmalade and Candied Citrus Peel. Whoever said January was a quiet month  Now I just need to make sure that I have enough sugar in to complete the same. Oh and I am after some more mens shirts in...

Simple Things

Good morning First of all may I say welcome to Tracy of  http://ifiknewyouwerecomingidhavebakedacake.blogspot.co.uk/   and Scarlet - I am not sure whether you have a blog of  your own or whether you are just a reader. You are very welcome nonetheless and please make yourself comfortable and have a good look around   Well its going back to work day for the New Year - bit of a shock to the system, but hey its all a means to an end and I can always have a lay in on Saturday morning.  A short week this week - next week will be a bigger shock, but am going to have to get back into the new groove and try and look after myself in the process. After all the rich food that we have had over Christmas I knew I had to have breakfast this morning but I did not fancy anything much; but as it will be a long day - and I think I am out tonight as well (it will be around 10:00 pm before I get in tonight officially and I shall grab a sarnie before I leave). I ...

First Day of 2013

After seeing last night in quietly by myself with a drink of something to toast in the new year I ended up getting to bed by about 1.00 am.  Although the fireworks had started with a vengence at around 10 pm and had upskittled the animals. But today is the first day in a new year a blank page to be slowly filled up with things, that we do things that we experience places we go people we get to know creating memories.  A whole year's worth to fill up and that in itself creates optimism, curiousity, apprehension all because of the new broom that is rushing through.  But it also creates excitement new ground to discover new experiences from which to learn from.  Fingers crossed toes plaited that it is going to be a good year for everyone. I am not going to make any resolutions though - I have lots of things that I want to try and achieve and lots of Work In Progress (WIP) but equally I want to be able to do those under my own steam without feeling pressurised a...

Last Full day of 2012

Well we are officially into the last full day of 2012.  It is cold here but not as cold as it has been but the wind is howling her head off and making wooden fences swing in her long exhales attempting to blow the flimsy panels into oblivion.  It is quiet in the house; the cats are asleep never far from me cosy and warm OH is upstairs fast asleep with Missy.  OH is working tomorrow and I am awaiting on the tumble drier drying his work clothes.  They will not be long and then I can put them to air. However whilst I am on my own it is  time to let my mind wander to look back on the past year which in parts has been very good although the drout then the torrential rain and its impact on our growing season has been quite immense and impacted on us all indirectly.  All  of us are suffering from the lack of sun as it does our bones good.  It gives us vitamin D although we do not need over exposure to her rays we do need her warmth for other benefits....
