Hot Cross Buns

Hot Cross Buns
Hot Cross Buns
One a penny
Two a penny
Hot Cross Buns

Give them to your Daughters
Give them to your Sons
One a penny
Two a penny
Hot Cross Buns

Ever since I was a child whenever this rhyme was sung I have had visions of a tray of gently rising buns suddenly jumping off the pan like Mexican jumping beans!

The rhyme that has been quoted throughout the centuries to celebrate Easter with warm decorated fruited scented highly aromatic buns toasted and butter spread on the warm buns and allowed to dribble absolutely lovely.

A day where no meat should be eaten but we are allowed fish and bread. So I think I will be having smoked haddock with poached egg on top for tomorrow nights dinner. But I do love Hot Cross Buns.

Will have to try and find a recipe that I can make over the weekend as remember it is Easter all weekend
