Creativity and wanting to get on

….bug has hit me all over again. When I get like this,  I tend to look around You Tube and also Etsy looking at the different crafts that people do and also tutorials on different crafts which I aim to have a go at in due course.  There are also a couple of kits I have seen which are a more specialist form of embroidery - stump work.  The kits are not cheap and I have never really had a go at this form of embroidery before so it is something I intend to research.  In line with some of the other things I have in the pipeline or have part worked, a lot of the designs tend to be English wildlife or plant life based.

The two stump work kits I am looking at relate to a dog rose pincushion and a bumble bee pincushion. I would also like to have a go at ribbon embroidery.

I like working with ribbon in any event and in the past have made three or four pieces of ribbon weaving for bedroom cushions.  One of them is already made up but the rest are waiting for me to get to them and finish them off.  I have an idea for one of them in particular.  They need pressing but they are attached to Vilene so they should press up well.

As I mentioned to you the other day I have an embroidery kit that I am itching to start.  It is complicated by the different codes for different colours and different stitches so it is going to take some concentration to actually complete this, but this will be when we have longer daylight hours as my eye sight is not as good as it was and I will need my daylight lamp and also my freestanding embroidery frame to work it.  I don't want to mess it up.

As it is a while since I have done any embroidery as such I intend to work a couple of smaller pieces to get back into the swing of things as it were.

Starting the small needlepoint Glorafilia pansy kit (which will be the central insert to a small cushion when finished) was perhaps something I should not have started.  However, I needed something to do at my morning with my friend and I could not locate certain components to my machine.  I did manage to get quite a little bit of needlepoint worked this morning.  I also sat last night and did a little more.  The vase is nearly completed and I have started working the dark background.  I think I am going to have to get my small light box out so that I can continue to work this of an evening.  The canvas is very fine as well which is not helping and I have missed the odd stitch and have had to back-track.

I am that inspired, I am planning on doing a quilt to go with the pansy cushion in the same colours which I think will complement it perfectly.  All plain colours, simple squares I think with a black backing.  Will see how it goes.  Not yet, but something to add to the list.  I have a whole long list of plans and creative projects either started and which are UFOs, or which are yet to be started or other kits I have my eye on.

I already have a couple of beautiful cross stitch pansy pictures which will go well with these projects.

There are also a couple of pansy needlepoint cushion panels a large cushion and then a smaller cushion insert.

That together with my friend starting a jelly roll quilt has got me buzzing.  I want to get at the patchwork anyway.  I did not get to play last week.  So I am intent on playing this week.

Monday OH is on earlies and I have plans for the pantry.  It is going to be stripped and sorted out; washed out, left to dry and then I will get OH to do some repairs one of the shelves fell off the wall and it needs re-siting.  It hardly had anything on it fortunately.  The pantry will  then be painted out in white. I have all the paint.  I also have the green polka dot vinyl for the shelves and some crochet lace to trim.  One thing I do need though is a white glass bowl light fitting for the pantry to make cleaning easier.

The pantry needs re-stocking and re-organising in any event.  So to make things easier it is the sort out first and then once decorated and sorted I can get food items that are stored elsewhere in the house into the pantry.  Once I know what I have I can then plan a bulk shopping trip.  I suppose decorating is another form of creativity.  It will definitely be old shabby clothing for dealing with this.

If I can get to it I may even start on doing some of the sorting of the pantry out today it depends how the day goes.  We are having roast beef and all the trimmings today for tea and that usually takes some time up - especially the washing up.

Catch you all later on.

  2. Thank you Angela I will bear that in mind. I used to have a friend who worked at the house. It might be worth getting OH to take me over there at some point for me to have a look. It is not that far away. Hope you are keeping well. Take care Tricia x
