I am beginning to feel a little bit like Noah...

For the past 48 hours or so it has been constantly raining with no let up. I also know that many other people are in the same boat!   Please keep safe wherever you are.

The mill race behind the caravan is nearly to the top of the bank and the river which was a gentle stony river when we arrived is now in full torrent.  We have seen trees float down this raging flow of water during the day.  It is not a very wide river so no doubt it has got blocked up further downstream.  On a positive note,  I have also seen my first Dipper bobbing up and down on the side of the bank today.  It was there for quite sometime. We are on a higher piece of ground than the river fortunately.  However, the owners have cleared a lot of the vans away from the river during the day up onto the higher land. We are booked in until next Friday.  If we have to go home we will, but feel it would be more hazardous towing the van in this extreme weather and would be more risky than battening down and just keeping an eye on the situation.  The wind is extremely rough more so than it has been during the day.  It is the wildlife I feel sorry for in conditions like this.  The poor Heron was checking out the mill race for his supper earlier on and even though the mill race is fast it is not as turbulent as the river.

Fortunately the van is nice and warm and snug.  We have had pasta for tea tonight; Lasagna for myself and Spaghetti Bolognese for himself.  Even though we are not out and about we are managing to keep ourselves occupied. Not much crafting today as the light has not been that good - that may happen tomorrow.  However we have been listening to the radio, watching TV, reading books and magazines, researching recipes and further posts for the future. I have also done a little housekeeping on my computer as it is well blocked up with lots of junk, but if I keep at it hopefully it will start to co-operate and I will be able to find things again. I am also starting to address some things I have been meaning to deal with for sometime.

I am also taking an opportunity to try and sort out some of the things I want for the garden next year and so a bit of planning is going on behind the scenes.  This is a steep learning curve, but am very slowly bringing things together.

Lets hope the weather starts to calm down a bit.  Keep safe wherever you are.

  1. What a shame you are confined to barracks, so to speak, by the awful weather. At least you are able to relax properly. Hope it dries up a bit for you soon.
