A Different day

and not what was expected at all.

We were supposed to go to the tip this morning but managed to oversleep. If you do not get to the tip early around here it can be murder and a simple task can be made long and complicated.

Never mind, it is how the cookie crumbles.

OH then decided in his infinite wisdom that we needed to go down to the caravan store and get the fobs etc sorted out and also take some parts for the van (that were ordered last year after he had had his prang with the caravan) and which were eventually delivered.  They have been hanging around the house so needed to be out of the way until he can make the necessary replacements.

We got the security bits all sorted at the caravan store and then went and checked the van out.  It does need a good clean so will be going to see to that shortly and get the van all sorted and cleaned out in readiness for using we hope at the beginning of May for my birthday.  We then came back to Peterborough.  On the way back it started snowing although fortunately has not landed per se.  However it is bitterly cold out there.  My fingers turned blue and I was very glad to get back into the house.

We were going to have posh Shepherd's pie this evening.  However, my email has not been working properly since the hack so for the best part of the afternoon I have been doing some administrative tasks trying to sort out the email box (which is horrendous).  We do not appear to be receiving all messages so I am having stints at emptying the Inbox and other boxes.  It is a job long overdue so it does need some attention.  OH and I sent email messages to my email and neither messages have turned up yet which is slightly worrying.  Some of the jobs were not made any easier as I could not remember passwords etc and so have ended up making adjustments in a different way.  Will get there eventually.  In the end OH sent out for a curry which was a real treat and very tasty.

I had forgotten a bag of needlework bits and bobs that I had taken to the van last year and so I have bought these home with me. I have since unpacked these and these are the items I have bought home.  I am not sure whether I have shared some of these projects and kits before or not. Some of them partially worked by myself and other projects that I have bought as unfinished pieces.

One of the worked needlepoint/tapestry pieces that will eventually form the central insert to a cushion.

A cross stitch clock kit.  I love anything with Roses on plus you get all the bits to make the clock including the frame etc.  I quite liked the flower circlet which I think would also make a lovely picture frame surround for a picture within a frame.

Now I absolutely love this tablecloth.  It was purchased as a UFO off of Ebay.  It is pure linen.  Will have to match the threads but I definitely will be working this one, once I have had a little more practice with my embroidery projects.  It is beautifully and neatly worked and I want to do it justice.  I love the colourways and I love the design.

The Crewel work kit I started last year on holiday.  It was left in the van so no more work done on it however have future projects in front of this at the moment.

Now this cloth is a beauty.  It was bought off Ebay again as a UFO and threads were supplied.  The embroidery on this is superb and I love the design and the colours on this one as well.  I am very fond of poppies and indeed have lots of poppy crockery.  Yet again, more practice needed on my embroidery skills before I start this one.  I think I paid under £10 for each of the cloths and that included postage as well so I did really well.

This is a cross stitch pattern/kit which I think will make a good cushion front

A Glorafilia canvas.  It is one of the Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady designs.  As many regular readers may remember, I have collected Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady items for quite a few years.  I just need to source the wools for this.

This is another UFO item purchased off of Ebay.  It is a pre-stamped cross stitch design.  I have run out of a couple of colours on this one and need to source them.  Will probably go and do this after the lap quilt has been finished.  With it being part worked, it will just be a matter of counting up the stitches and working out where I am on the design.  Then that will be another lovely piece out of the way.

The last kit my Nan bought me, and perhaps everyone's dream home of a certain generation.  This one will definitely be worked.

And finally two Candlewick embroidered cushion cases which eventually are to be for my bedroom.  Yet again more practice with my embroidery skills is needed beforehand.

Despite there being so many lovely kits that I have in-house to work I have been inspired to carry on working away of an evening to get these projects very much done and into my home.  Working the lap quilt has given me a bit of confidence although I still have much to learn.

However for the past three nights I have not been able to do any of the embroidery due to other issues predominantly the hack on my computer and me having to sort that out.  At the end of the day though, these things are sent to try us.  Fingers crossed will get back to it tomorrow.

Catch you soon.

  1. What lovely projects to look forward to. It's been very cold here too so no wonder your hands turned blue! I bet that curry hit the spot. Hoping you can get your emails sorted out soon. I have a book I write down passwords in as I don't have the same one for every site.

  2. Hi BB, there are some lovely things there for me to get stuck into. Hopefully we will be out and about again in the not too distant future in the caravan and so I can always take some of them with me to do then especially if OH goes fishing and leaves me to it. We have plans to be away on my birthday to Woodhall Spa again. The curry was lovely, nice and mild and very tasty just as I love them. I have written the passwords down in a book before and then lost the book. Will try it again as I forget within a few minutes of changing things. Hope you are all keeping well and safe. Looks like you are making your mark on the new garden. Take care Tricia x
