A quiet day
Where I have not done very much. A little preparation work but nothing drastic in readiness for projects to come in the next few days or so. I have also done some research into future recipes and things I generally want to have a go at.
I have been to the veg shop today just for a few bits. I bought three bowls of reduced apples at £1 a bowl, and 2 kilos of pickling onions £2 a kilo and a tray of eggs. £4 for 30 eggs so a grand total of £11. I have a serious amount of preserving to do over the next few days.
In the middle of the afternoon, we had a visitor on the roof. An unusual visitor and well-off track for his normal domain down by the river. OH, spotted him on the roof of the house. We had a Heron sitting on the top of the roof surveying all around him. He was there for a little while and then flew off. The photos are not the greatest but from where they were being taken from and the angle, they are not too bad.
Beautiful creatures, they remind me of old gentleman in formal dress.
It is very unusual to see them away from a river bank.
A scratch tea tonight. Some cheese on toast or should I say Raclette on toast for OH (sounds posher but it is the same effect). I had toasted tea cakes. Did not want a full meal. We have eaten well through the week. We have a full roast tomorrow in any event. Roast Chicken with all the trimmings.
Barnsley chops probably Monday now.
Am off to watch a film and do some crochet.
Catch you soon.
