Foraging

Sorry this should have posted yesterday but got held up on the photo front.  Anyway here it is:

Hello everyone, hope you have all had a good day.  I have had a smashing one, wandering around in nature on my own gathering the wild fruits, and just being me.  It has been a lovely few hours on my own where I have taken time to recharge.  What better battery than Mother Nature herself.

As threatened, I managed to get out today for a good old forage.  It was perfect weather a little windy but not gusty and I managed to find loads of goodies.

The foliage looks glorious too all the yellows, russets, reds.  Look spectacular.

I found Sloes.  Yippee.  Am quite pleased about this and managed to bring a few home again with a view to trying some new recipes that I have never made before.  

I came home with Rosehips

Two Carrier Bags of fallen Crab Apples.  These will need sorting out tomorrow as they were fallers and have all sorts of bits of grass and twig in with them and I want to make sure that is stripped out. The apples themselves are perfect just none left on any of the trees. Plans for some recipes not tried before included Pickled Crabapples, Crabapple sauce and maybe some wine.

And some nettles for drying for Green Powder.  I did not take photos of the nettles. The area I went to had been cleared and there were not many left.  I will go again another day and check further up.  I still need teasels, some twigs, cones, leaves and some more Haws and Hips. Have been looking for mushrooms but nothing found so far.

Some of the Rosehips have been washed, topped and tailed and put into the fridge in water for starting off Crabapple and Rosehip jelly tomorrow.  

Unfortunately, did not get round to it today as planned due to the prep work with everything else. Everything else has also been put into the fridge apart from the Crabapples, which as I have indicated will be sorted out tomorrow and then popped into the fridge. I have also been in the kitchen doing other items as well.  I have been playing around a little bit.  Will see how that goes.  It depends on the results of how things turn out whether I tell you what have been up to or not.
