Saturday and Sunday Catchup
Saturday
A quiet and cooler start to the day. Went chilly and had to put some covers on early morning. We had a very slight rain shower. Rain had been forecast, but when it actually happened it was gentle and lasted about 10 minutes if that. Not even enough to wet the surface. We desperately need the rain as everywhere is so dry.
I was pottering doing bits and bobs downstairs again today. Eventually gravitated towards the kitchen.
Last night's tea had been lovely. Roast chicken, new potato chunky chips and salad. Very tasty indeed.
Tonight's tea was not too sure about. In the end I decided to make Lasagna, using the ingredients I had prepped up last night with some other bits and bobs. Made everything myself including the Bechamel sauce. Ended up getting two glass trays of Lasagna. One tray for tonight's tea. The other tray popped into the fridge for another night, probably Monday night's tea. Was very tasty indeed.
Tomorrow evening we have chicken for tea. Not sure what will be serving with it as of yet.
Did not water up as forecast predicted would rain overnight. Nothing happened.
Sunday
Woke up really early and it was very muggy. 6am. Then went back to sleep and I overslept. Didn't fancy cereal or toast and ended up making Scotch Pancakes which went down very nicely served with butter and homemade jam. Separate post to follow on this.
Pottered around again and got stuff out for tonight's tea. We are having, cold chicken, ham and corned beef with pickles and chutneys and homemade chips. Using up some of my squirrelled away preserves. Having security of these extras just helps pad a meal out that bit more.
More rain had been threatened and our local weather forecast predicted that we should have been in the middle of a thunder and rain storm mid morning. Nothing happened. We did get a torrential storm a couple of hours later i.e. thunder, lightning and torrential rain.
The rain as it starts.
Started off gently and the fast the rain started to fall, you could not see the back of the house or the gardens because they looked as though they were in a dense fog. In reality it was the rain tumbling down so fast that was kicking up steam and dust from all the dry weather we have had. Supposed to be rain for a few more hours yet, but appears to have stopped for the time being. It would be good if we could have a good couple of hours of gentle rain for everything. It has nicely chilled the air down which am pleased about. We have since had a few more showers inbetween. Supposed to be raining on and off until about 1:00am. Then supposed to be dry and a low percentage of rain predicted for tomorrow. So we shall see what happens.
Just glad the rain we have had has cooled things down a bit. A lot more pleasant. Just grateful we have had some.
Hope everyone has a lovely evening.
Catch you soon.
