Another Busy Day
Trying to get this house sorted. Not in the kitchen today, but the dining room as that needs sorting for access purposes. Pantry has had some more stuff put in but is not organised. Will probably get back to that tomorrow but at least the stuff is out of the way with. I still have a lot of stuff to get in jars, but for the best part the Pantry is organised. Also need to go under the stairs which is straight off the dining room and sort that out. I will get it primarily sorted this evening, but the bottom out will happen next week and I will decorate it out. Then can get everything else in. There is a heck of a lot to do but I must say that it is very satisfying that at long last progress is being made and I now know where stuff is. Been lovely going to the Pantry picking up a jar of this or some dry ingredients and just being able to get on with things, rather than hunting here there and everywhere and making a mess in the process. Obviously a lot of fine tuning will go on as well. A lot of hard work gone into getting this far, but worth the concerted effort.
Been a horrible cold and wet day here. Looking forward to the lighter days I do not do grey at the best of times. After all life is very colourful you just have to look, feel and enjoy what you do do. Look for the joy in each and every day. Some days are better than others but inch by inch whether you realise it or not you are another foot forward, another day past. It all adds up.
Am just waiting for tea to cook. We are having fish fingers, mushy peas and cauliflower cheese tonight. Something warming and hope it is tasty like the other night's offerings. I thought we were having mince. Well there is always another day.
Washed out numerous jars today ready to go under the stairs. My preserving jars. Have some Squash to cook thinking of cooking into a soup and also in chunks for Pumpkin pie for the Pantry shelf. Looking forward to doing more preserving overall where I can.
Feeling very fortunate that I had a lot more ingredients in house than I thought I had. Plan is to try and grow some veggies this year as well as get all sorts of other bits and bobs preserved as we go along. I want a better choice of items this year on the shelf and that includes items from the wild Larder. Will also very much take advantage of seasonal items like plums, strawberries, blueberries, apples, blackberries, wild garlic etc. All adds different flavours and a taste of something special to bring out to vary up the eating.
Right am off to get my tea.
Have a lovely evening.
Catch you soon.

For the short period I have been reading your blog you have accomplished a lot. You deserve to feel proud of what you have done.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandra. Because everything kept going wrong each time I started to do something or I got interrupted and my focus lost I started to feel "not good enough" and it got me down a little bit. One thing I have worked out is that I am not good at time lines these days as it always takes me longer than I think it should. The Perfectionist in me coming out. If I am doing the job it may as well be done to the best of my ability xx
DeleteIt all takes time, it took us 3 or 4 goes as every time we finished, after a short while I found I wanted to get rid of more. I think when I started I was cautious, but I started to realise I could be brave and get rid of more. Now living with less is rewarding, the clutter brings you down.
ReplyDeleteHi Poppypatchwork, I inherited a lot of stuff which I used to keep in a unit. When I was made redundant though I ended up having to give the unit up, and brought what I had there home. I have been gradually working through a lot of stuff, but some I am just not ready to get rid of yet. On top of that I also have lots of hobbies, crafts, cooking, music, reading, loads of books (books are my friends). I am not naturally minimalistic. Still have a way to go but it is gradually sorting just not in the time frame I had envisioned. It will get there. Take care Tricia x
