Simply Being
On Saturday evening, after having been on the go all day, and after going back into the kitchen to tidy up a bit more and do a bit more washing I decided to down tools and engage in a bit of self-care. My hair now that I am older seems a lot drier than it used to be and not as thick either, and it now goes really frizzy even with using a serum. Every so often I do try and do a really deep condition on it to try and help it a bit. Tonight I have used a Hemp shampoo and conditioner that I have not used before, and at the minute it seems as though it has done the trick a bit. Will be able to tell more tomorrow. If it still is misbehaving might have to try another conditioner or a serum. Will see what happens tomorrow. At least my brush goes through without scalping me. I will wash and do another deep condition in another couple of days in any event. As it has been so warm washing my hair is perhaps the best thing I could have done as it helped cool me down a bit. Unfortunately we do not have a shower here. As I have mentioned in a previous post, it has been a very busy day again and I am now cream-crackered and ready for my bed. No alarm is being set for tomorrow so I may get a little lay in.
I have also set about re-shaping my nails and will rub some oil into them a little later on. Another evening I might set about the cuticles and do a repeat of the oil process to try and get them back into some sort of order. Since the Vitamin D issue was raised I have had trouble with my nails and if this lovely weather is to continue I want my nails to look nice when I go out and about. Just simple - nicely shaped not long as I end up breaking them just neat and practical. Very often no polish on. I prefer to buff my nails up using a nail buffer to reveal the natural shine of the nail, and I use the oil to feed the nail. Before cube jellies went up in price I used to buy in a block and eat a cube a day until all gone. I found the gelatine in the jelly helped my nails grow and improved the condition of the nails. I am talking when jellies were about 65p/70p a block they are currently £1 or more. I might actually do that again though to try and get them back into some kind of order. Feet will set about another evening. At least a start has been made though. A little self-care never hurt anyone.
I have also sorted out six packets of seeds to sow this evening for sowing during the day tomorrow. I shall do this everyday, (possibly on some days more packets) until I get a little stock of plants sorted out for the greenhouse. With this warmer weather it should help no end. More on the garden though in a different post.
I already have two washer loads of washing to go out on the line tomorrow morning there is currently another load on. The washing line is currently full. I put a load of stuff out earlier on and when I went to check on it, it was still wet/damp so I have left it out overnight - this is despite the breeze getting up a bit. There will be more washing to do tomorrow including a big wash of vintage linens some in excellent condition and some which are not, but elements of which are going to be recycled into something else.
All the washing up has been done in the kitchen, ready for me to steam on with the rest of the cleaning tomorrow, First off I have to clean some cupboards out and then get stuff back in but hopefully should get that all sorted tomorrow. I am intent on starting the big pile of ironing tomorrow evening and I will need the kitchen to do that. I can listen to the radio whilst I work. I have a little Roberts Radio a proper portable one which I absolutely love and when I am working downstairs I tend to have on as a bit of background noise especially if I am in the house on my own.
Sunday
Unusually for me I woke up early about 7:00am and then read for about an hour before getting up at 8:00am. I had not been able to settle so I crept out, got dressed and then made myself a cup of coffee. I store my sachet drinks in a recycled French Biscuit tin. The biscuits are gorgeous when I can find them. Recycling the tins in the cupboards and the Pantry also makes it easy to spot certain key items that little bit quicker and adds a little variety to the shelves. Whilst drinking my coffee, it was lovely to be on my own (a rare occurrence these days), and for about three-quarters of an hour, I sat in the back garden, listening to the birds and City background noises (surprisingly not too loud here) and just simply enjoyed the moment being in the warmth and stillness of mother earth, and enjoying my coffee.
I also went partly through one of my seed boxes and then added a few more to the six sachets I had sorted out yesterday. Hopefully will get those in soon. Have taken some trays down to the greenhouse for this purpose; I am intent on doing this.
I also bought all the dried washing in, put the new batch out, and have done a couple of more loads of washing since then. Have just put another load out, and I have more washing to do. Just about to re-load the machine. Must say the weather is absolutely glorious.
Starting to flag and as I want to get on in the kitchen, decided it was time G had his breakfast so that all the washing up was done and dusted and I could then get on with finishing the kitchen off, sorting cupboards, getting stuff put away that sort of thing. It was about 10:45am when I roused him and 11:00am before breakfast. Did him egg and bacon and I had a couple of Pain au Chocolat washed down with a cup of tea. First thing I had to have a sweatshirt on but that has now come off as it is really hot; 23/24 degrees predicted for here today. Making the most of this beautiful drying weather.
Now to the kitchen it is - I need to start that ironing tonight even if I do not get much done in the longer term, I need to keep to schedule on this one as there is so much else going on during this week (weather permitting).
Got all the washing dried so far and another wash is on. It is one big ironing heap!
Before the kitchen though I had a slight detour. G went and bought a box of ice lollies and they went down a treat. Now to the kitchen. - Not to the kitchen not feeling too good - this always happens when I get up earlier in the morning than usual. Eugh! Apart from the washing which is ongoing I am off to put my feet up. Just to have to do tea in a bit - it will be a salad again as too tired! So definitely no ironing this evening. Saying that it has been quite a productive day all told. Kitchen again tomorrow and the ironing.
Now to chill. To tell the truth I got brain freeze from the ice lolly! Enjoyed but haven't bothered with any more.
Once have rested up a bit and if a little later I am up to it will do some pottering in the front bedroom as room still has to be made in there for all the ironing. Otherwise it will be a TV night - would rather be at the pub!
Have a lovely evening everyone.
Catch you soon.
