Today
has been very hectic again to say the least. I have not stopped at all it has been very full on today. In any event, I have had to concentrate on the kitchen which is not what I planned and somewhat of a detour. In reality, and perhaps for the next couple of days (especially with me doing things like washing, ironing and trying to sort the Pantry out and also co-ordinate other things that are going on in the background), the kitchen is going to be where I will be based. I will therefore be kitchen bound for the next few days at least I suspect if not over the weekend. This time round I want everything sorting as best as I can, bearing in mind that Christmas is on the horizon and I would like to get some Christmas decorations up as well.
I had completed washing yesterday which I hung out on the line today, however, it did not dry. My tea towels were part of this and as I had used them all (I only use a tea-towel once before it is put into a boil wash). Fresh tea towels were also needed for drying up other items that have been waiting in the wings. Have had to drag the tumbler out and get that going as a result, which involved moving other stuff and dragging other stuff out out of the way so that the tumbler vents were not obstructed. The tumbler is technically homeless at the moment as a result of the Freezer moving in. There will be space by the time I have finished though; it is just getting to the finish line and then everything will be much easier. So Pantry on hold again, although I have been sorting the odd bit here and there. There have been a couple of things that have been well out of date and so they have needed sorting and throwing. A lot of hard work going on but at the moment little to show for it.
I continue to do more washing, now that the tumbler is out it will be a lot easier to get stuff dried and out the way with. Fortunately I have an A grade tumbler which does not take long at all. Very good at getting rid of pet hair. That will free up quite a bit of space. Will have to keep at this though.
I have an early start tomorrow as I have an awful lot to do. Today, I have also picked up some more reduced veg from the shop another four swedes (£0.30 each), two packets of Brussel Sprouts (£0.40 each) to be prepared and added to the Freezer. I am trying to get quite a few bits into the Freezer where I can. My intention is to get a few carrots in there as well. I want to get some Carrot Crush made and into tubs in the freezer in order that it is all prepped up and ready to go when needed. Will probably try and deal with the preparation of the veg and the blanching first thing tomorrow to get that out the way with. I have also bought another four bags of frozen mixed Fruits of the Forest berries currently on offer which is buy two bags for £4 Instead of £2.50 per bag (400g bags from the Co-Op). I intend to make a batch of Jumble-berry jam from a couple of the bags. I may add in some apple as well to bulk it out and also help with the set. It will be useful for baking in any event especially with Christmas in the offing. More on the food front later in the week though.
Tea tonight has been homemade chips, fried egg, pineapple and Gammon steaks. As I had soaked the steaks overnight in a couple of changes of water, the Gammon was not salty and was very tasty. Has gone down very nicely just what was needed after a very busy day.
I still have not managed to settle down and actually start my embroidery kit. I have sent off for a magnifying ring light to help a bit of an evening in order I can see what I am doing as my vision is not what it used to be and I want to do this kit justice. However, that is going to take a little while to arrive as it is being sent from China overland because of the weight. Hopefully that will arrive sooner rather than later. However, I intend to start the kit all the same.
It looks as though the major shop will happen next week after I have cleared and tidied everything up that I am working with. I am hoping to nip to the Charity shop tomorrow to take a few things there. Will see how it goes.
Right off to put my feet up.
Have a lovely evening and take care.
Catch you soon.
